Congrats to Bill Mott on his Ladies Classic/ Classic Double.
Back in March, when Mott and McGaughey were off to slow starts at Gulfstream,
a poster on the Rag Board stated that he thought that maybe the game had passed
these top trainers by, that they had seen their best days.
I rarely post over there, but this post was ignorant enough to warrant a
response. I posted that even if it seemed that the game might have passed
these two by, they would catch up eventually.
I thought about this exchange Saturday and only could hope that this Raggie
had a huge position on Game on Dude and was able to watch Mott pass his wager
by.
Warning-- Discussion of extremely non-scientific BC wagering strategy follows.
My old friend Scottie, who I groomed horses with in NJ and now works as a Vet\'s
assistant in Florida, used to bet $2 win on every BC runner who was 20/1 or
above with a couple of minutes to post. On Saturday there were 26 runners with
post time odds in excess of 20/1 for an investment of $52. The combined return
of Afleet Again and Court Vision was $216.80.
