Title: It's a Tough Game
Post by: Rick B. on October 31, 2011, 05:17:54 PM
After the fuss about the dead rail at last year\'s BC, I decided to put every horse that was impacted (according to TG) in my watch list.

There were 34 horses in total. A few came back and won, but that\'s not my point here.

How many of these 34 horses do you think made it back to this year\'s BC races?

Ten? Guess again.

Five? Sorry. Think \"lower\".

Two or three? C\'mon, at least ONE, right? Right?

Nope. Not one. Oh-fer-34.

How brutal is this horse ownership stuff, anyway?

Jackson Bend?

Also I know Big Drama wasn\'t given a X but he had to hustle early to get off the rail so he was impacted in a way.Regardless though that is pretty bad that not many horses can\'t put together a couple strong years .

Then again, there is Zenyatta, who danced the Breeder\'s Cup Dance for 3
straight years; Gio Ponti, who will be competing in his 4th Breeder\'s Cup;
Court Vision, who will compete in his 3rd consecutive BC Mile, a race which
has been won in each of those 3 years by Goldikova. Eldaafer will compete in
his 3rd consecutive BC Marathon. On the other end of the distance spectrum
California Flag will compete in his fourth consecutive BC Turf Sprint. Also
in the BC Turf Sprint is longshot Grand Adventure, competing for the second
straight year; he also contested the BC Juvie Turf as a 2YO in 2008.
Aikenite, entered in the Sprint, will compete in his 3rd different BC event,
having contested the BC Juvie as a 2YO and the BC Dirt Mile last year...

All hail Midnight Lute, who possessed what is being called \"ability\" on this
board and was able to win (convincingly) 2 consecutive BC Sprints.
