Ken Rudolph leaving. He\'s terrible anyway

Good riddance.
My feelings exactly.
He\'s professional, has a sense of humor, handles his duties pretty well.
What type of host would you prefer??
I thought he was pitiful....and couldn\'t pick his brother out of a flock of Chinamen.
His job was not to be a pro handicapper, his job was to be the talent and try to make watching and learning the races fun. He tried to bring a sense of humor to the game and in his own way he mocked people who constantly, day after day, sweat out the chalk. He would make the case for telling people instead of going seven deep in a race, go ahead and grow some ba**s and single your top pick. The game was lucky to have him.

Finally someone who gets it, instead of another bitter comment.
Spa, your comment is offensive and racist. Then you have the nerve to call Rudolph pathetic after that asinine comment. Brilliant.
I thought he did a good job! Started in 99?? That was a long run in any job, much one that can pretty redundant like covering races daily like TVG does
Wish him well.
P-Dub,when you cast a stone into a pack of dogs, the one you hit yelps!

Another idiotic comment. You made an insensitive, racist comment. Unfortunately, you\'re too clueless too understand that.
I\'m not even talking about his handicapping. Could care less about the talking heads picking races. Rudolph was whiney and annoying everytime he was on the air. He added nothing to the broadcasts. Just my opinion. If you liked him, all the power to you. He won\'t be missed in this house.
what r these clowns doing at tvg is it horse racing or family time geez cake wow i know hes leaving but wow

The Today Show did damn near a whole hour of flashbacks and stories when Meredith Vieira left.
Folks here don\'t like Ken, we get that -- but it was very clear at TVG today that this guy was extremely well-liked and even respected for what he brought to the table.
Are you that hard-core that you can\'t miss 2 minutes of warmups at Oinky-Doink Downs so his co-workers can say goodbye to him. Wow, yourself.
hay IL give 50-1 giacamo wont win the derby in 05! ken! lol im only sorry he didnt take a couple more taking heads with him
P-Dub,
He had a sense of humor, which is appreciated, but did you ever learn anything from him about horse racing? You want to say the host of a horse racing show doesn\'t have to know about horse racing, then you can say that, but Rudolph on TVG was akin to Dennis Miller on Monday Night football. I like Dennis Miller, but hated him on Monday Night football.
Simon whatever and Frankie whatever may be less entertaining (and it seems Frank is occasionally inebriated), but they do seem to at least know the game and I have heard things from them that are insightful about handicapping and worth listening to.
Get me more Brad Thomas on TVG. To me, he is the most interesting analyst out there, always pointing out some angle that is never \"captain obvious\". Of course he isn\'t right all the time, none of us are, but he tries to tell you something that isn\'t easy to notice about every race he analyzes.
For my money Rudolph isn\'t close to being the worst though. That award goes to Todd Schrupp for me. His voice is like fingernails on the chalkboard.
BTW, as somebody who pays for the service, we get to critique it. Customers are allowed to be happy or unhappy (and take their business elsewhere).
Whether we should do it on the TG board is probably a different question.....
Ty that was what i was thinking exactly and i would trade Todd Schrupp to get Rudolph back anytime ...FYI i have Comcast cable i pay $15 a month to get TVG and HRTV and hands down hrtv is the best, to bad they cant show allot of tracks
Jimbo,
He admittedly knew very little about horse racing. Over the years, his acumen has improved, and he has had his share of winners based on what he has observed over time. He is a polished, professional host. Now, he may not be everyone\'s cup of tea. Who is?? I don\'t think his role is to teach us about horse racing, its to keep things moving while the more accomplished and knowledgeable handle the nuts and bolts of racing.
The Dennis Miller comments I agree with. I think he is a brilliant comedian, but the MNF experiment failed. I actually liked him at times on MNF.
Simon obviously knows the business, Frank Miramahdi is also excellent. Others also do a fine job, Christina Olivares comes to mind.
TVG tries to entertain as well as educate. How successful they are is up for debate. Not everyone wants a dry, information only, just the facts presentation.
If I never see Todd Schrupp or Greg Wolf again, I wouldn\'t shed any tears. Hearing Greg Wolf tell me how great a horse looks on the track, is similar to a 1-2 No Limit player analyzing a WSOP hand. Neither has a clue. Schrupp?? A condescending buffoon.
Its part informational, part entertainment. Some like it, some don\'t. As you said, people have the right to critique it and change the channel.
Ken Rudulph was the first person on the set when TVG first aired. I think showing him respect with the retrospectives and such is appropriate.
I never had a problem with Ken, enjoyed his work. Just my opinion.
P-Dub,we can agree on Todd S...........

Don\'t like TVG, but I\'d listen to Thomas anytime. Very low BS quotient for that line of work.
When I first started working at the track in 1987, I would look at the TV hosts, the track announcers, the camera people and think to myself \"Surely, these people are just grooming themselves for a \"real\" TV gig.\" Yet they never seem to leave the track. This is this first time I can recall anyone doing so.
\"..hands down hrtv is the best\'
Jump,
...mainly because HRTV has Jeff Siegel who has a better handicapping/racing opinion than all the talking heads on TVG/HRTV combined!
Mike
Rudolph was originally hired to be a host but also a racing novice, the voice of the regular fan. He wasn\'t there to teach people about racing. To me, whether he was annoying or not, it doesn\'t make sense to blame the guy for doing the job he was hired to do. Since he made his lack of knowledge clear quite often (sounds sarcastic but I also mean in the sense he never claimed to be an expert), I don\'t see how some people here never picked up on what his role was.
the only on air person ive had any contact with is Nick Hines the Sarge! Oorah and Dave Weaver they both answer my questions on air about the qh horses at Los Alamitos
The best TV personality - the most professional - the guy with the best voice and delivery is Laffit Pincay. HANDS DOWN. This guy should be the successor to Brian Williams. He\'s that good!
I hear Ken is a consultant for Green Grass stables... Really???
They had those 2 horses from Peru that paid boxcars the last week at Delmar.
