Title: Pletcher = Scumbag
Post by: pizzalove on May 06, 2011, 08:14:43 AM
Thank you Todd for taking the greatest race of the year and killing some horses opportunity of getting in.  Thank you for your selfishness and for placing the priority of gettng your own ugly mug on the camera over the chance for someone to grab a little limelight.  This horse should of been scratched months ago.  The fact that it wasnt tells you all about Pletcher.  Probably had the horse on some illegal drug program to try to get it ready for the Derby.  This should tell anyone with a good young horse to stay away from Pletcher.  Let him go right down the toilet.  Oh and thank you also for hurting the chance of the maximum payouts that 20 horses would of provided.

You are overreacting, IMO.

This wasn\'t just any horse -- this was the reigning 2 year old champion we are talking about here, with some undefined medical issue that might have cleared on it\'s own. I don\'t know what\'s really wrong, and neither do you, but the connections earned the right to play this out the way they did. Horses aren\'t machines, and figuring out what is wrong with them can be very difficult.

I hardly need to add that your assertion that scratching Uncle Mo somehow kills all chances of the race generating juicy payoffs is pretty uninformed and reactionary.

I\'m trying to be civil here, but sweet jeezus dude: get a grip. Still 19 horses, and the likely favorite looks like he has no shot -- how bad is that?

Agree w everything Rick B. said, but will add that your anger is misdirected.

It is more likely that the owner caught Triple Crown Fever and instructed  the trainer do everything he could to get the horse right. Winstar took Rule off of the Derby trail when he \"went wrong\" on the advice of Pletcher barn.  Owner isn\'t required to listen to trainer and his vets.  He had a special horse that he was hoping could recapture 2YO form.

Isn\'t the real problem that CD stubbornly refuses to allow a 3 or 5 runner AE
list?

Perhaps Repole in your subject title would have been more accurate.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

Everything I\'ve read indicated that Pletcher was more into it or indicating that the horse would run - and Repole was the one saying \"50/50\" or not sure.  I just read that in the Times a day or two ago.  HP

All Repole needs  now is dark sunglasses and a bodyguard and he will be closer to the people he\'s trying to become.

Ditto.  Kudos to Pletcher for standing up to the owner.
