Title: sharpening fig projection skills
Post by: asfufh on June 15, 2003, 08:55:40 AM
How about making the figures earned by horses each day at each track/race available to online purchasers of that day\'s thorographs(only would be able to look at the actual races purchased). This would enable the sheet readers to compare their projected numbers to Thoro\'s actuals and hopefully use this info to improve their sheet readings. As it stands now, the thoro readers know where their horses ended up but to determine what numbers the horses actually earned versus their projections is ,to say the least, problematic.

The problem there is the same as with the two calls a week I get from those interested in getting the last number for a horse they own or are considering buying-- it would significantly affect our horseman business, which is done on a commission basis. As an example, we just put together a Graph Racing partnership to buy a filly who will be running in the Prioress (G1) on July 4th. We bought her after she lost a nw1x allowance race running a figure that should be good enough to at least hit the board in the G1, and there is no way in the world we would have gotten her at the price we did (she was priced like a filly that got beat in an allowance) if everyone knew how fast she was. This is why our policy is different than Ragozin\'s, who has lots of horseman \"clients\" that pay him a couple of hundred bucks a month to make decisions on buying and managing horses worth 7 figures.
