Title: Toby's Corner
Post by: big18741 on April 10, 2011, 04:42:42 AM
Needed pace-didn\'t get it and still found a way to win with a fast final 1/8th.Ground saving trip so no big jump up new top like the SA Derby winner with all that wide.

This will be all about Mo losing but Toby\'s Corner benefits from a fast paced ten furlongs in Louisville.Kinda interested in him depending on how things shake out the next month.

The third place horse by Bernardini who was wide looks interesting also.....if he gets in.

Arthurs Tale will get the better # with the wide but I\'m guessing this could be a few point new top for him-which isn\'t ideal in April.

I like Toby\'s Corner more if he got back to his Whirlaway or a little bit better.Think on the whole he has more room to advance next month if that\'s the case.

Is this the same Toby\'s Corner who finished behind Stay Thirsty, who finished behind just about everyone in the Florida Derby?

He looked okay, but (and this seems like it\'s been said alot this season) the time is slow.  No direct comparisons, but the Comely runners went a mile in 1:35.5 (as opposed to 1:49.9), and there didn\'t appear to be any R Heat Lightnings in there.

For a group that was supposed to be one of the best in years, they\'re looking more and more ordinary.  Speaking of R Heat Lightning, I wonder if her connections are starting to have thoughts?

Check out Charlie Hayward, NYRA Boss. About 12k people show up with no city OTB parlors to compete with and the card has 4 races for garbage 7.5k claimers and 25k nw 2 life claimers.Out of touch Charlie calling this a \"terrific card\" Transparent attempt to hitch NYRA wagon to Uncle MO\'s previous star, also backfires.

Hayward:

"It was a sensational day at Aqueduct highlighted by Toby's Corner's exciting victory in the Resorts World New York Casino Wood Memorial," said New York Racing Association president and CEO Charles Hayward. "Our racing department put together a terrific card and our customers, both on and off track, responded with great enthusiasm.

Uncle MO:

Classy MO owner Mike Repole confides no excuse on camera.MO\'s horribly poor performance, based on previous ability shown inexplicable.TAP must be kidding about MO grabbing a quarter and being \"hounded\" during the running as an excuse. Maybe a little undertrained or pea hearted Todd??

Using who beat who with these spring three year olds is tough to do.Toby\'s Corner is a goofy horse-needed blinkers bad and it showed in the Gotham. He ran goofy in the Whirlaway as well.Still had his head cocked in the Wood but took off late when he got down to business.I suspect he\'d run even better second blinkers. There was zero pace in the Gotham-not good for a horse that comes out of it and running erratic.Pace was a little more realistic yesterday-Derby should be even better for him.

Like you say can\'t compare one turners to two.
Last couple of Woods were run in 149 and change-Esky and I Want Revenge. Not saying he\'s that caliber but he does have upside.

No clue but it wouldn\'t be a shocker if she\'s cross entered.

Hayward gotta go.

Besides presiding over the tanking New York racing program, culminating with a
winter of racing which was unbettable, the Hayward/Campo regime also harbored
the convicted and lifetime banned Paragallo and has allowed multiple offender
Dutrow to flourish.

When increasing the purse of the Wood to $1 million, Resorts World New York made
noises about returning NY racing to its prior priominent position. If they are
serious about this Hayward gotta go, and a racing program so heavily reliant on
state bred racing must be scrapped.

To all of those looking forward to Belmont, get ready for plenty of cheap turf
sprints.

Richie & Mike both posts are well said !

As I posted last week about the NYRA Supreme Idiot\'s rant in a Saratoga restaurant it was not King Charles. So there all drinking the same delusional kool aide !

A great card ? Come on, what happens next week when Finger Lakes opens ? There is virtually no difference between any Aqueduct card and the the track to the far west except for a few stakes. Half of the tomato cans that ran for a million dollars yesterday belong at finger Lakes.

NYRA has become a complete and total embarrassment and the powers at be truly think there back on top ???

Thoroughly disgusted,

Frank D.

\"NYRA has become a complete and total embarrassment and the powers at be truly think there back on top ???\"

...yeah, same clowns on the board and in top management positions. Political stooges abound!
