He did it again - he keeps switching back to his left lead in the stretch.
Title: The One that Got Away

Missed the lead change again Mark, but I was watching on the computer. I can\'t say the number of times I\'ve seen a horse get rank in a workout and then come to the track and be unmanagable. Bailey said Funny was fighting Jose right from the gate. I saw the same thing...he wouldn\'t cover up and wouldn\'t leave something to shoot at. I just think Funny worked himself out of a true effort. For whatever reason he was a different horse on his home track than he was in the Derby and Preakness. He wanted to run too soon. To his credit he was only beat 5 lengths. Thats really not too much at that distance. He hung in there. But I think the fade started at 10 marks and thats what I was afraid of. I actually foresaw the change of pace for him, but I thought he was good enough to wire them. He wasn\'t. I hope he gets back to being a horse that will rate. Thats him at his best. We\'ll see if he\'s better than Empire Maker later in the year. I still think he is, but we\'ll see.

We\'ll have to wait and see what the fig makers make of the Belmont and Funny\'s effort. I haven\'t ruled out that he ran his race and didn\'t handle the 12 marks I was sure he would.

I lost money, but Dang I\'m more bummed this horse didn\'t win the Crown.
