Title: TG on the IPad
Post by: covelj70 on January 10, 2011, 02:28:56 PM
I know someone else has posted this question awhile back but has anyone figured out all of the nuances of downloading TGs on the IPad? I seem to encounter different issues each time and wonder if anyone else has found a solution.

Thanks very much

I\'ve been using the iPad successfully, but primarily for ThoroQuick.  I\'ve bought sheets for individual races without a problem, but never a whole card.  The prompts are somewhat counterintuitive.  If you\'re interested in either of these, I can follow up later, as I don\'t have my iPad with me right now, and couldn\'t do it from memory.

TG works great on an ipad. I don\'t download from the website to the ipad but rather download to my computer or laptop and then use \"Goodreader\" to upload the file. In fact, one of the best features of the ipad is the excellent readibility of pdf\'s with small fonts, such as TG.

I have been doing the same thing by downloading the tgs from my computer and then uploading to my iPad using one of the reader apps but I am Trying to figure out how to just download directly onto the iPad. Moose, seems like you may have figured out how to do that? I would send you a private message but maybe if you could share for the board, others who buy an iPad in the future can get the tutorial now?

Thanks so much in advance for your help.

OK, I\'ve tried a test run with the sheets, and found a defect, but I will continue with a description until I reach the defect point, and hopefully, one of the TG tech guys is reading this and might be able to help with a solution.

My vocabulary for this will be clumsy, but I\'ll give it a shot.

Obviously, start with the date, and then move to the \"Types Available\" window for product selection.  Touching the blue \"down\" arrow will open the window for the product options.  Select your product (sheets, etc.).  Go to the next line, below, and touch the arrow under \"Tracks.\"  That brings up a list of available tracks for the day.  Note that there are two arrows under tracks which will give you the complete listing for the day.  This is where you hit the snag.  The first arrow, with roughly half the available tracks works fine.  Click on the blue arrow at the right of that narrow window, and it opens up a listing of the individual races and \"full card.\"  Click on what you wish to order, and then the gray > next to it, and this will move it to the \"selected product\" window.

Now here\'s the problem:  going back to those two small track \"windows\" at the far left, when you click on the second window for an additional listing of available tracks, nothing will register when you proceed through the selection process, described above, effectively cutting your track options in half.  I had not encountered this before because I have been primarily ordering from \"simulcast options\" where there is a different protocol, and when I ordered an individual race, I obviously never needed to go to that second grouping of tracks because I had done so, successfully.

I\'m sorry that I haven\'t been able to close the deal, here, for you.  Perhaps I am missing something in the prompts, or maybe the tech folks can clean this up for us.  I think this is the only glitch in the ordering process, but if you\'ve found others, let me know, here or by PM, and I will see what, if anything, I can do.

Moose, thanks so much, really kind of you.  Let me play around with that sequencing and see what I can come up with and come back to you.  Thanks so much again,

Jim

Hey Mike,

Thanks so much for the message.  Yeap, that was me and 2 of my kids in the winners circle with my father in law at the Big A on Sat.  We got home in the MSW for 3 yr olds.  That was alot of fun.

Being there with (some of) my family hanging around upstairs all afternoon after the win was really fun.  Days like that make almost make all of the heartache of being an owner worth it.

There was actually an ok number of people there considering it was a 25 degree day in Jan. and the buffet at the Equistris isn\'t terrible and the staff was very very nice as always.

I was just glad my little man didn\'t try to jump on the horse in the winners circle, Junior Alvarado thought he had problems with his mount in the 6th, he should have seen what my little guy can do with a kick in the groin, trust me from experience, not fun

Thanks again Mike.

I see you have Citrus Kid running on Saturday, will you be attending Gulfstream?  Would love to introduce myself.  Best of luck.  Tom.

Hey Tom,

I will definitely be there.  Would love to hook up.  Will send you my cell on PM.

I would post it here but I really don\'t trust that Richiebee character, he seems shady :)

Look forward to seeing you.

  Covel:

If you are anywhere near the judge of horseflesh as you are of human character,
wonderful things await you in the Racing world.

Which is great by me, because right now my most viable retirement plan involves
you and the precocious youngster becoming big wheels in the Racing game and
buying a large portion of central Kentucky, at which point you will be able to
employ me as a part time half in the bag night watchman. My quarters, which
should sit on the portion of the property closest to Keeneland Race Course,
need not be opulent. I\'m talking 20-25 years down the road, after Sonny
graduates Vet school at Penn or Cornell.

I think you entered Citrus Kid Saturday so you could be as far away from
Ozone Park as possible. NYRA on Saturday presents perhaps the most dismal
weekend card I can remember. 4(!) races for animals running for a selling price
of $7.5K, 3 maiden races, a state bred allowance and a 5 horse ungraded stake.
Its an embarrassment and I am sorry but it is a situation which could be easily
fixed with new management at NYRA.

Covel, thats a bad card on any day of the week. I mean how would you feel if
you brought the gang to Equestris and they were serving bologna and American
on Wonder Bread and the carving board was featuring Sloppy Joes?

Best of luck tomorrow. I\'ll get the TGs at work later, but looking at DRF
this is a logical spot. Honestly Sat\'s decent racing at GP will have to take
a back seat to NFL playoff games. Hope you get your picture taken.

Richie,

Another instant classic from you!

We got lucky again today and won so we are one step closer to that dream farm where you can live out your days.....lol

As an aside, I had the great pleaure of hooking up with Wrongly after our race and we were able to share some celebratory champagne.

Wrongly is a terrific guy and one of the many great aspects of this board is being able to meet up with different folks at different tracks around the country (like Danny at Fair Grounds last year).

Thanks for sharing a great day with us Tom!
