that the chart caller makes NO MENTION of the jock nearly coming off the horse (won the race) at the start. And the NY trackman is a stickler for detail. Amazing he missed that.
If you didn\'t see todays 9th at AQU it was a very nice show of horsemanship.
I looked up and watched that race live (telecast), and that was astounding!
Jock has both legs on the near side three strides out of the gate, and I\'m thinking, \"Well, he comes off and at least nobody is riding over his head and he\'ll be fine he\'s not going fast, and the horse is at the back\"
And he throws that right leg back over, gets his iron, and wins the damn race.
Here\'s the chart:
MY HONEY LAURIE stumbled badly at the start nearly losing his rider, recovered and was forced toward the rail, moved out to the four of five path to track the leaders, was three wide around the turn, was put to a prolonged drive, came a bit wider into the lane, rallied relentlessly, collaring the leader a couple of jumps prior to the finish line to prevail.
Interesting, the DRF pdf charts (posted at the site) do NOT have that full commentary. Maybe they fixed it after the first draft.
