Title: If He Breaks He's Gone!!
Post by: Know Nothing on May 16, 2003, 10:19:04 AM
Funny Cide!!

With the expected off track moving him up, he has way too much talent for this bunch.

Say Good Bye to the field and Hello to a gift at 8-5.

Whoa...

He\'s comin from outside and theres two horses quicker than him and a third that may be. If he wins it certainly ain\'t gonna be a wire job.

lol

CtC wrote regarding Funny Cides trip,

\"He\'s much more likely to tuck in behind in the gap thats gonna develop between the speed makers and ease seekers.\"

Precisely my thinking, but he needed to get there first. Other than Peace Rules I\'ve seen better fields in the Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn.

Get used to this gang, because you are looking at a baby Skip Away.

Amen. Watching the head on replay, he reminded me a lot of Skip Away. He\'s not a glider. He\'s a grinder with very powerful action. Looks a lot more like an older horse than a 3yo and the pedigree to go on. I have a good feeling about this one.

Wow, what a tough surly bunch this is (both Boards) considering it sounds like most everybody made money. What is it, the I should have bet more syndrome, or were the hangovers so bad after winning that somebody has got to pay.

It must be the hangover thing because brain cells are in short supply right now. Otherwise more people would remember that ROBES gave me one his better recommendations in the Ky Derby when he advised on his usual 17 horse exacta box.

Know Nothing, you must know something because it has become pretty obvious to me that when Funny Cide is outside of horses he has got some kind of explosive move. The outside post probably helped in that regards assuming as you and CtC pointed out he got the necessary break to position himself there. Maybe if some of these guys quit “looking for that perfect line” as Robes said he did on Derby Day and actually looked at the races along with their sheet they might have noticed.

I bet when he was 3-1 an hour before post time you did your share in knocking him down. Good call.
