How about also on the 11th and 12th of August, when they have the $100,000 DRF handicapping contest?  Covelj needs all the help he can get!

He\'s extremely modest-- he\'s hit more pick 6\'s in the last month than most people hit in their lives.

Right now (subject to change) I\'m going to be up there Whitney and Labor Day weekends, Alan\'s got Jim Dandy, working on the rest.

Jimbo, want a guest shot?

Walked the grounds Sunday morning after B\'fast at the shoe ... The new restaurant area next to the paddock looks great, especially the new paddock bar ... Does anyone see the irony in a place called the \"Shake Shack\" right next to the paddock? Guest bartender ... ummm Rudy, Oscar, Gaspar ...

thanks for the update. Love the \"shake shack\" joke and a paddock bar sounds awesome E

That is too funny, Niall.  Will be rooting for covelj to take down the contest-never met him but, judging by his posts, he does seem to have a modest, self deprecating sense of humor.  Any other TG people in the contest?

TGJB,

Thanks for the offer, but looks like my two weekends up there are two of the ones you got covered (Jim Dandy and Labor Day weekend).

Too funny. Speaking of the \"Gas Man,\" has anyone been receiving any mail from him about joining his exclusive Saratoga Round Table? Would anyone actually pay this guy for information?

Good Luck,

It\'s time to shake this board up again. I\'m back at least for the meet. Will also be their for Jim Dandy and Labor Day weekends. See you all there!!

Richiebee you still coming Jim Dandy weekend?

Jerry this time I plan to drive up and lug my Golf Clubs around for closing week (all week this year). Do you or any of the other faithful would like to put together a group to play golf at Saratoga National? Price is a little steep but I keep hearing this course is really nice!!

Any Takers?

Possibly the Fri of Whitney weekend, won\'t know for a few days. Nice course, not easy.

I\'ll be at the beach Labor Day weekend, but I could play the Friday before the Whitney. If National is too expensive I think the Spa course is an OK deal for the money.

Just so everybody\'s clear, we\'re talking about a tee time of 10:30 or later if I\'m involved. That aside, it\'s tough to get an earlier one anyway because everyone wants to go to the races. Another TG user is in as a fourth.

If we\'re going to do this it should be the good course.

Tentatively, I\'m planning three weekends--Jim Dandy, Sword Dancer, and Travers, weekend. I will do seminars on those weekends.

After what I just paid to be blown sideways in Irish sheep pastures I guess I can handle the freight. Friday, August 6, yes?

That\'s the date, but I won\'t be able to confirm for sure for a few days.

Sorry, I have been behind on my posts.

Thanks for the shout out JB, the sheets were incredibly accurate for Belmont and Hollywood is all I can say.

Another thing that is absolutely right is that I need all of the help that I can get in the handicapping contest.

I have just missed qualifying for vegas in 3 tourneys already this year, I need to make my move at the Spa.

For whatever it\'s worth, I was told that I got the last spot in the tourney.  Not sure if they are selling me a bill of goods there but that\'s pretty impressive given the $1,000 entry fee.

Who says this game is dead!

NCT:

If watching the Mets hasn\'t given me a nervous breakdown, I will be in attendance
Sat, Sun, possibly Monday July31/Aug 1.

Forever Together is nominated for the Diana, can she beat me for the third
straight year?

McGregor Links a fun alternative for golf, challenging enough for most, priced
somewhere between the State Park course and Saratoga National.

I haven\'t played golf since October 07. I have mismanaged the Recession, have
been tremendously busy since April 08, basically had to decide between Golf and
Racing. I know you all are proud of me for the decision I made.

(I have been smart enough to leave the clubs in the trunk of my car since I
stopped playing, making me slightly more sage then a certain top ranked golfer).

Looking forward to renewing old acquaintances and making some new ones.

(Covel: If your son is up there, can I pay him to hold my place on line at the
Shake Shack?)

Richie,

Went to the Giants/Mets game Sunday at ATT Park. Good game, great weather, and just a fabulous ballpark. Got tickets from a customer that were excellent.  Being an A\'s fan I can\'t stand Frankie R.  Curious what Mets fans think of him??

I played golf yesterday for the first time in 8 months, and today I am very sore. Shot a 43 front 9 (Thats a TG -3 for me), and tired badly in the hot valley heat to come home in 50 (Thats prob a TG +2).  I don\'t golf often, but if I can break 90 thats a great round for me.

Curious, what do you guys that have been talking golf shoot??

Looking forward to the 2 meets starting tomorrow, that Spa overnighter is pretty damn good.

K-Rod one of many closers who has gone south once coming to the Mets. Heard
and read that K-Rod not a favorite among his teammates.

Those 43 halfs will kill ya!

I was a hack and whack golfer, stuck in the mid 90s. I played my best rounds in
friendly matches with my Dad, showing that Golf is perhaps the most \"mental\" of
all sports.

Richiebee,

my wife draws the line at the spa with the little man, I am solo up there.

That said, I did bring my oldest onto the backstretch last week to check out some of our horses and watch morning training.

I think he has the bug now.  He was beating the trainers ear off with questions.

Now I can consider my trips to the track \"daddy/son time\" so I should be all set from here for my run at Father of the Year.

Sword Dancer week end? That\'s a good thing Alan. See you there. Hopefully, I\'ll still be celebrating a qualifying spot when you arrive.

I\'ve been playing infrequently - and poorly - for the last few years, Paul. Picked up the game 13 years ago (when I turned 40), never took any lessons, and after five years I was playing into the mid-to-high-90s on difficult courses (say, 120 slope or higher), and getting into the mid-to-high-80s on the easier state courses that I typically play. But in the last few years, I\'ve played infrequently and my game has suffered to the point where I was happy to break 100 ANYWHERE. I\'ve been coming around a little this year (despite my driver being in jail and my 3-wood on double-secret-probation ... tough game if you can\'t get off the tee safely). Last month I shot a 94 on the Spa course in Saratoga, so maybe I\'m on a recovery line, but I think I should get at least two or three from you.

Richie,

The Mets are killing me!!! Taking my son and my Dad to the  Day Game vs Cards on 7/27 and then head North to the Spa for the Weekend, (Dad went to the very first Met Game at the Polo grounds and has some 8mm film of that game vs Pirates. He also went to first Game @ Shea. Dad is now 75 ling in Port St Lucie (of all places) so you know this is near and dear to him).Poeer guy was getting hopeful that a playoff run is possible, and now he\'s saying maybe we should sell the tickets and go right to the track!!!

Maybe the cancer being Beltran ruined the Mojo of this team. Who knows.....

See you that weekend!!

Never say \"Whack\" to an Italian.......
