Title: I have to say these Rachael vs. Zenayatta debates on this board drive me nuts
Post by: covelj70 on June 12, 2010, 04:45:37 PM
It\'s annoying that everytime one of them run, we start this nonsense.

This is a TG board, the numbers say it all.

On her best day, Rachael is better than Zenaytta by a good margin.

HOWEVER,

Z is undeniably more consistent.  She really never runs an off race.

Those who want to argue brilliance back RA, those who love consistency back Z.

Period, end of sentence.

On this board, it\'s suppossed to be about the numbers, not who beat whom or how big the various fields are.

a 4 neg is fast if its run against a bunch of claimers or against a group of G1 colts.  It doesn\'t matter.

It\'s just cool we get to enjoy them both

BTW, Given that Quality Road is 10 lenghts better than either of them, none of this really matters for horse of the year unless he gets hurt,

Hope everyone enjoyed the great racing today, it was cool.

Its annoying when some come on here and pontificate to others about what they should talk about.  Its annoying that there are 2 different standards when evaluating field strength. Its annoying that some can\'t grasp that simple concept, especially when that was the only point being made.

So a maiden that runs a -5 is better than Zenyatta. There have been maidens that have run negative numbers.

There is more to racing than a number.

Period, end of sentence. Because you say so?? Ok.  Zenyatta looks plenty brilliant to me and many others.

Brilliant.

This is just plain ridiculous. I know we have numbers to evaluate horses, but they are not the end all when evaluating them. How much would you be willing to wager on the big figure maiden against a horse like Zenyatta. You know, the horse with inferior numbers.

Yes it is.

Wrong again. He may win the Eclipse award in the category of fastest Thorograph figure.  But isn\'t HOY given to the horse that accomplishes the most?? QR hasn\'t won at the Classic distance.  If he shows up at the BC, doesn\'t flip out again, and runs the \"number\" going 1 1/4...then yeah it won\'t matter. But thats a big if right now.

If a maiden ran a 5 neg, he/she would be better than Z ON THAT DAY.

That\'s the whole point.

Rachael is better than Z ON HER BEST DAY but Z is more consistent so...

....those of you that insist on making the Rachael/Z debate some kind of holy war might be better served to compromise on that point.

Respectfully request permission for an exception to your rule so I can make the case that Affirmed was as good as Alydar in the 1978 Triple Crown races.
