our buddy z humor is back off a short layoff but hasnt been able to recover from that effort late last year. 9-2 odds and doesnt do it for me. 1 and 3 are too slow to win. lets check out the contenders...
2 - all his top efforts on dirt as of late have been below his best efforts overall. ran a good race last out but seems to like like slop a lot. so i wouldnt look at that effort as anything special unless its raining out in kentucky today.. and its not. il pass thinking he will run an ok race not good enough to win but should be in the mix with good number power in this field.
4 - very deceptive here.. ran a great race last out but that was on poly. check out thelast time he had the layoff.. they switched him to dirt 2nd off the layoff and he did not fire.. they are doing the same thing here and im leaning to think he will be overbet based on his last race..will also have to come off the pace. Julien will be off too as I hear that Black eyed susan injury was more serious than thought..http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/57116/injuries-temporarily-sideline-leparoux-borel .. even though he came out great this year il wait for a better opportunity as things just look a little too fishy here.
5 - should be lone speed here. ran a slop effort last out which can be tossed out imo. has 7 weeks from the previous nice effort and should be primed to run nice here. will be blazing the way and with no real fast speed like this in the race he may be able to scamper away as the 3rd choice.. has plenty of rest from his last true effort so should be nice and fresh. everything other than the slop is in line and all systems are a goooo.
Not going bananas but going with a win wager here as im guessing he should be around 7-2 or so at Post time in the short field and looks to be nice overlay value here.
