Interesting that Dublin is about 5 points higher in the win pool odds , however $90 lower than 3rd choice PO\'P in double payout.
Difficult race to handicap in well matched field.
I\'ll go with value play CARACATARDO at 25-1; key in exactas with \'Lucky, SS, Dublin,; smaller with everyone else with the hope that fresh horse angle and some luck get him in the exacta. Throw out SA Derby. Rating tactics didn\'t work and perhaps big number first time out set smallish colt back.
Still have doubts about the distance, but I\'ll take the 25-1 to find out.
Good Luck,
Joe B.
Joe B,
If you can, I would wait a bit to see an odds update today. I would sincerely doubt Caracortado goes off north of 15-1, let alone 25-1. Still offered 10-1ish at reputable offshore outlets.
Friday Preakness betting is completely different than Friday Derby betting. By end of the Oaks days, the odds quoted are relatively solid, and I believe represent fully commingled pools. Friday Preakness odds update only includes money bet on track at Pimlico and historically has had strange odds that change drastically by mid-day on Saturday.
The BES/Preakness double is a \"guide\" but that double includes more \"sharp money\" than \"tourist money\", so some things will change. For example, in the double, LAL was quite a bit shorter than Super Saver. My bet would be that they go off similar in the \"tourist money\" win pool, with perhaps Super Saver even favored. (although in this case, i believe the tourists will be right in that SS will run better than LAL, although I hope neither wins.....)
Good luck,
Jim
