Crow doesn\'t taste better than frog legs
Less expensive.
Probably not in this case, though.
I had him in the last futures pool at 35-1, one of 6 I played. Needed another I liked to run well to do any real good. Still could hit a nice pick 3, we\'ll see.
The rail\'s no good except when it is. I think it may have been an issue Friday, but everyone jumps too fast at that stuff. When it\'s really dead, NOBODY runs well over it.
No question re the rail on Friday, today horses won from all over.Nice call on the winner and a brutal trip for LAL from the poison \'ground saving\' rail position.

Lots of horses had tough trips. It\'s the Derby.
Didn\'t see where he was on the turns, but if the second finisher paied his figure, which seems likely, the race collapsed (and the time seems to back it up, without looking at the day as a whole). Third and fourth finishers probably ran new tops, SS may or may not have. Whole lot of bounces.
Isolate on LAL, sharp from the gate, 17th or 18th after 3/16ths, banged at least twice, badly. Agree on rough trips but LAL was mugged.Ugly final time for the day, slowest derby in a long time but who knows what they did for the hour or so between races.

Just got out of Churchill and had a secon helping to be sure, crow doesn\'t taste like chicken either.
Yes start eating, no problem
I\'ll watch it, I\'m sure we\'ll see it a lot. According to Durkin the second finishers had bad trouble and ran through it-- in general I\'m of the opinion that unless the trouble happens in the last quarter a horse has a chance to still run, even if he doesn\'t run quite as well as he would have. Horses that have run will generally show it even after trouble.
They got the last half in like 54 seconds and the horses that were 19 th and 20th early finished 2nd and 4th. I just looked again there are at least 5 \"trips\" in the race.
Wait until you read Baffy and Gomez, I can only imagine and it was not Gomez\'s fault at all.
Mike
And you\'re not even counting \"wides\".
Looked like 2nd and 4th were fine in the first but came out of the second six or seven wide, after starting it maybe 3 wide. Once again Calvin passes only one on the right side, and Paddy seemed to get almost the same trip from 3-4 lengths behind.
Great job by sekrah.
You have to handicap the whole race and he did that, so this is academic.
Ice Box might have won by several lengths had he not run into a wall of horses, steadied hard, and had to start running all over again in the home stretch. If he can run back in two weeks, that horse will be very tough. SS will not will the Preakness. Lucky obviously got sixth from another nightmare trip. Haven\'t watched enough to see who else suffered, other than Sidney as a pace burnout.

I had my best Derby Day in years. XpressBet\'s overwhelmed servers froze me out!
Yes, Ice Box could of won and had some bad luck there having to steady. However, he did have a very fast pace set up for him to attack from the back, and when he did clear that wall of horses, he got out in the middle of the track where it was likely faster than where Super Saver was at the end.
It doesn\'t look like a gargantuan effort from SS. Thou there was a brisk headwind on the front-stretch. If he leaves this race in good order, I see no reason why he can\'t win the Preakness. Although I did see that Hurricane Ike got a 101 Beyer from the Derby Trial, which stands pretty good compared to this 3yo crop. We may see him at Pimlico.
Sekrah:
CoNGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You were all over this colt and he deserved the victory. That little NBC add on with Durkin and Ice Box at the end was uncalled for. SS ran his eyeballs out. Stalked an insane pace for that kind of surface, punched through when Convergence drifted out, accelerated again and held sway.....nice!!!
Hope you made a bundle. !!! Now you have to defend your title in 2 weeks.
Good Luck,
Joe B.
Ice Box again failed to change leads. look for this one to break down.
Thanks Joe. I did pretty good yesterday all around.
Durkin use to be the man, but the quality of his calls over the last few years have really gone downhill, makes me suspect he is dealing with something else in his life or age (he\'s 60 now) is beginning to slow him down.
