Gilligan breaks through gate just before other gates are opened, giving himself slight head start. Then he finishes in super. Stewards let result stand, saying he did not gain an unfair advantage at the start. Apparently, the stewards weighed the head start against the discomfort required to get it, analyzed how the race would have unfolded had Gilligan not gotten the head start, and concluded that...that...that the result should stand--on the grounds that stewards get to decide whether results should stand.
