Title: lingo question
Post by: Jersey City Jake on April 30, 2003, 08:06:09 PM
Sorry but I\'m a newbie: what are you doing  when you bet a \"spread against the favorite?\"  Are you betting other horses to win at somewhat longer odds, or is it when you only play the favorite underneath in the exotics, or both?

This is actually quite tricky. What you do is spread yourself wide open, and then hope the favorite doesn\'t come in and give you a bit of a tickle, causing you to drop and lose all of your dough...

Yeah, we got a bunch of quipsters all of a sudden. Sounds like the Ragozin board.

Assuming you are referring to my use of the term, what I mean is spreading out in exotics using the contenders with each other.

Yes I was.  Got it. Thanks.

Also-interesting comparisons you made bet. TG & Rags.  I appreciate your openness in discussing the science behind the speed numbers.  Not everyone is so open about it.
