Title: Sunday GP race #8
Post by: shanahan on March 07, 2010, 09:03:09 AM
a route for MSW on the turf...a first timer for Roger Atfield (#5) has some very impressive breeding figs.  Roger is 28% turf route, 25% first timers...and the dam - good god -  gets 71% first time winners!

Now, if the missing persons bureau can locate the real Edgar Prado, this could be a nice pay.  ML of 6/1, full field.  been training at Payson...

Perfect Shirl is a half to millionaire Shakespeare, have to think that one will be heavily bet.  Matz horse Wicked Charm, is also a half to English Channel.

Lady Shirl, dam of Perfect Shirl (Perfect Soul (IRE) - Lady Shirl by That\'s a Nice), was a grade I winner on the turf and earned $951,523. Lady Shirl has produced 6 winners from 7 to run, including turf stakes winners Fantastic Shirl and Lady Shakespeare; and Shakespeare, a grade I winner on the turf and earner of $1,293,780. Shakespeare was also a debut winner on the turf. Three other siblings of Perfect Shirl won their debuts, and 4 in total won on the turf.

Wicked Charm sold for $190,000 as a 2-year old, and is a half-sister to champion English Channel and grade II stakes-placed Sedgefield. English Channel was a winner in his first start, on the turf as a 2-year old, won or placed in 12 graded stakes on the turf, earned $5,319,028 in 23 starts, and was named champion grass horse in 2007. Wicked Charm has been working at Fair Hill, most recently going 4 furlongs in :49.40 on November 14. Ghostzapper\'s 22 runners have run 56 total times, recording 12 wins, 8 seconds, 8 thirds, and $403,596.

Carles Fipke, owner of Perect Shirl, has his good ons with Barclay Tagg.  Ths ain\'t one of \'em-toss. I like the Ghostzapper #11, but Matz is 4% with firsters.  Will take sort price on Beautiful Song-Castellao riding the turf like a mad man.

The 10 Beautiful Song looks tough here to me.  Lost to repeat winner House Of Grace in Turf Debut and ran a good 3rd to Tapitsfly in Stakes Debut. Coming off a minor stress fracture that did not require surgery.  Drops back into maidens and will probably take some beating here.

The #4 looks like an interesting firster to me.  Trainer is on a roll (just caught his winner at a $10 mutuel in the last).  I can\'t remember the last time I saw him with a debut runner in a Turf race.  Just not his thing.  This one has no visable Turf works either.  Sire is Kitten\'s Joy though.  Mom was unraced, out of Red Ransom.  That\'s a lot of grass on top and bottom.  Currently on the board at 9/2 off a 10-1 ML.

Like the Ghostzapper #3 on turf first time and hope Elvis guns her to the front, not like Desormeaux who tried to rate Dynazaper yesterday.  Ghostzpper never looked back or gave the others a chance-let her run!  Out of respect for your picks I will include the 4 in my tri\'s with 10 on top in most of them
