I definitely \"NEED A T-O!\"
My question to you all is which would be worse - Kenny Mayne or Dicky V as part of the TV coverage on Derby day?
How about both? I shudder at the thought...
Chris
I for one like Mayne. But then again, I was raised on a steady diet of Mayne and Kilborn (the best ever SC duo) throughout college which included the 9, 10 and 11 AM SC.
Hey look, it\'s another blah telecast with Neumeyer, Battaglia, Charlsie and Hank Goldberg. Actually the giy who does the shows now with Mayne is alright. While they are certainly more analytical then Mayne, no doubt by direction, he does attempt to entertain. Who knows, maybe just one more person tunes in because of him for 10 or 15 minutes. Even better maybe down the road some of the money comes into the pools. Will some tune out? Of course, but then again, most \"players\" have access to direct feeds.
Ramble mode off.
Whats wrong with Mayne?? He has been a fan for a long time and is a knowledgable host. He doesn\'t take himself too seriously and obviously enjoys the game. I wouldn\'t put him in the same class as the excellent Tom Hammond but Kenny is alright with me. As far as useless commentators, who\'s lawn is Battaglia mowing? The only thing worse than his lame post race interviews is listening to one of his race calls. And as far as handicapping, which is what they tout him as, he is terrible. I\'ll take Goldberg, Neumeyer, and Moss every time.
As far as Dickie V owning a horse, racing can use all the exposure it can muster. Good luck DV!!
