Title: Buena Vista Today @ Santa Anita
Post by: jbelfior on February 15, 2010, 06:16:19 PM
Any reason Desormeaux had to go :22 and change and then :45 and change to the half with Czechers today. He had the 3 post. Who was he trying to outgun?

That\'s what you need in this game. Study 2 hours, watch race replays, come up with 18-1 shots who are ready to run their eyeballs out and then watch the pinheads go and do their thing and screw up your $200 exacta.

Then you wonder why more people go and pull levers in casinos, play scratch off games, and bet on sports they know very little about. Better to be a robot in this life....less aggravation!!!

Good Luck,
Joe B.

I noticed that Kent going into yesterdays card was 0 for 10 with a 0.00 ROI at santa anita.  Seems like something is just waaaay off and he didnt win any of his mounts yesterday or today either.   Strange start and really weird to me especially since hes getting some pretty good horses out there.

Also, Do you guys know why Kent rode Czechers instead of Sutherland?

He was interviewed after the race and said he was doing everything he could to slow the horse down. He knew during the race he was going to fast.

He also said the if \"she learns to listen to her rider\" she\'ll be able to beat anyone.

Wish he could of because I used her on all of my Pick 4 tickets.

Sutherland rode Pretty Unusual in the race.  I\'d guess it was her choice.

In the same vein, how about this one. I LOVED Motovato at GP on Sat,, especially after hearing Wolfson\'s comments on how well he was training before the race.  I had him heavy to win and heavy underneath Munnings in the Ex.   He jumps up at the start and loses about 6-8 lengths, then comes running about 5-6W on the turn maybe 8 entering, now he\'s staggering after making up all that ground, gets  bothered a bit in the stretch and just misses getting up for second.  And no, I didn\'t play triples in the race.

Hey Joe

I enjoy most of your posts but cannot agree with the assessment that Desormeaux was at fault here aboard Czechers.  While Kent D. is as volcanic and unpredictable as any jockey in our lifetime, he is also one of the most talented.

The pace, while quick saw the first three early, finish 1,2,and third.  Graded events, this trip on firm turf, contested without the rail often feature lively splits.

Breaking very well from near the inside Czechers was very much under control early and finished nicely with a final pole in under twelve seconds. The 5yo Indian Charlie mare had class issues being 40-1 and 50-1 in her only other graded tries, yet in a front page DRF article prior to her last, trainer Glatt had the following quotes; (paraphrased) \"thruout her career, she\'s never been willing to drop the bit and finish\"  and \"she just pulls and pulls... and pulls\". Plans to retire her have again surfaced and she has been booked to Candy Ride.

While the ticket construction police have repeatedly cited us for incompetence, hindsight says a VERY, VERY logical winner in eleven to ten Tuscan Evening, over some/all of them, over Czechers in a trifecta play would have been a good hedge.

Lastly find it very odd that some would question the agents/jockeys decision; it was a no brainer. Your a good player and due some luck. bbb

BBB:

You should post more often. My thoughts at the time were that Czechers had relaxed in some of her races under different riders. She appeared to break comfortably and well within herself in Monday\'s race. She also appeared relaxed going into the clubhouse turn. It looks as if she got away from him a little down the backstretch, then again he may have moved on her. Either way, only a Lure could wire under those fractions.

It\'s funny in that if I had a turf horse that ran early (e.g. \"The Usual QT\"), I would be better off running it on Santa Anita\'s turf course than the synthethic.

As far as the ticket construction police......well, they should have locked me up long ago for first degree incompetence.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

Read where Kent D said that Czechers kinda \"ran off\" coming out of the first turn. Getting a free runner with no mouth to come back is extrememly difficult and usually ends up in a wrestling match between jock and horse.

If you ever see a jock restraining  your horse who is tossing or fussing with his head, proceed to start chewing on your tickets.

Ticket construction critical over the long haul.
