Title: Terrific card this Sat at the FG, 5 stakes
Post by: covelj70 on January 19, 2010, 12:59:27 PM
several of them graded and mostly big fields.  This is how a day of racing is suppossed to look.

I am going to head down there.  Anyone else gonna be there live to say hey?  Always nice to put some faces with some names when possible.

Definitely. Saw the entries today. Friesan Fire and General Quarters running against each other in the Louisiana H.

Should be a great day.

Safe to assume Citrus Kid won\'t be on the lead this time? Although, there\'s not a ton of speed signed up.

You\'re right Jim - a great card there.

Mike D,

Hah, if Citrus Kid is on the lead on Sat, Miquel Mena is going to have one angry Italian man to answer to :)

Hopefully we can sit right off of it.  He needs to really step forward but he\'s really training well so we will take a shot.  Should be a fun day.

Great card, great racing, FG needs a break after some brutal wet and cold weather
so far this meet.

Good luck with your runner Covel.

Speaking of cards, look at the first 4 races at Aqueduct Wednesday. If NYRA was a
private corporation and I was a stockholder, I would be demanding the resignation
of everyone from Charles Hayward on down to the person cleaning turds out of the
paddock.

Time to shut down NYRA and replace it with a private entity. Time to get the
Aqueduct Racino up and running. Time to name a \"racing czar\" in New York State to
make these things happen; I nominate in all seriousness the man known as Client
#9, who is going to end up back in politics soon anyway.

Richiebee,

you could just write the words \"client #9\" 100x on a page and I would laugh.  I really want to make that my handle on this sight.

Just spent the weekend at FG. The clubhouse is a first class venue, overlooks finish line and a short stroll you can view walking ring. Thoro-sheets in short supply. Only have FG thoro=sheets. Betting multiple tracks take a laptop or download and print beforehand. Enjoy the Gumbo!

Good luck cov w/  the \'Kid  . Tricky race but the horse could go forward and  at least get a share imo , although challenging it isn\'t a bad spot  .  ..

3 or 4 of those Holy Bull colts could turn out to be serious runners. after a quick look, I like Winslow Homer. looks a bit like his dad. didn\'t need his best at Pha. gets in light, and gets top jock.

Steve Haskins put something up on his Facebook Blog that there was an Eight Belles coonection with Winslow. Had something to do with a painting.

Aikenite they expected more on BC Day. More effective around just one turn with Yes its True on top?

Lecomte does have any Hard Spuns but it sure would be good to see Paul McGee make a Derby run.

Mike D nice one. I flopped into this spot on your advice. He looked pretty live throughout most of the race and may be something.

The Sprinter at FG who I also caught (very small) looked really really good. 21 and 1 pressed opening qtr and held easily sway in the long FG stretch. 110 Beyer at 3 with only career defeat by a head to Captain Candy Man means this guy can fly.....

WH is a nice looking colt Silver. He will, of course, have to learn to rate and finish better. A :46.2 opening 1/2 over that surface really isn\'t excuse enough to close in :13.3. It was his first start though, and I\'m sure Dutrow will have him in better shape next out. With Summer Squall, Rahy, and Drone on bottom, a solid nine furlongs should be within reach.

Sheet guy will point to Jackson Bend\'s wide trip, and better figure. Another good looking colt, but I\'ll likely side with Homer again next out.

I missed the FG sprint. I\'ll have to check that one out ......
