You could tell from one look of her during the post parade today that Beautician needs a break. She looks very tucked up and unhealthy. The huge figures she ran earlier this year have clearly taken their toll on her like they often do on young fillies. That was as bad of a pre-race appearance as I have seen a good filly make on the track in awhile.
She\'s clearly a very very fast and talented filly. I hope they don\'t try to keep pushing on her to try and get her her stakes win early in 2010. Her best bet to be able to fulfill her potential is to get 6 months on the farm.
I know we can all disagree sometimes on when horses need breaks with some of us suggesting that anytime they run a huge fig they should get a break and others justifiably arguing otherwise but it\'s hard to debate in this case the right thing to do by this filly.
here we go, good stuff.
From DRF today:
Time off for Beautician
Beautician, who turned in an uncharacteristically lackluster race in the Hollywood Starlet last Sunday, will be getting a 45-day vacation at a nearby farm, according to Jordan Blair, the local assistant to trainer Kenny McPeek.
\"She came back fine,\" Blair said. \"She wasn\'t blowing. Our best theory is that we pulled the trigger one too many times.\"
