More fun reading ... This guy is classic. Have to admit I have reached at to him for a bailout ... I know, if I could just read these patterns a little bit better ...

This suspension does nothing...Mullins does not race here anyway..
I thought that if you were susoended from one track you were effectively suspended at all tracks...was I daydreaming about that?

From NY Times:
\"The aggressive punishment of Mullins in New York comes at a time when horse racing is under intense scrutiny for its use of illegal drugs, overuse of legal medications and lax oversight, all of which many veterinarians believe are part of the reason the United States has the world's worst mortality rate for thoroughbreds.\"

Isn\'t that what some of us have been saying for, oh, I don\'t know, 10 years!? Last week, Sighthound is busting my chops telling me as a veterinarian something or other, he sees no connection between drugs and breakdowns, yeah right.

Anyway, some \"aggressive punishment\"! Ban him from a track he doesn\'t race at except for 1 or 2 races a year. Those penalties are brutal, huh?

Great racing at Oak Tree by the way. Yesterday, there were 60 horses entered on the entire card! Sink your teeth into those handicapping challenges.

A joke, nothing more than a NYRA Public Relations exercise. These clowns actually watched Mullins walk right in with the stuff, watched him do whatever, did nothing until after the deed and now want to tell us how vigilant/serious they are about integrity,BRILLIANT!

Mullins should have been stopped before entering the detention barn area, had the stuff confiscated and the rest.

We\'ll see how it goes, but this could be a big first step. It depends on what other tracks do about his suspension, and whether NYRA follows up with other trainers. They are clearly trying to send a message.

Could Mullins be charged criminally for this offense? What he was involved in seems somewhat similar to what Greg Martin was doing and he went down.

Yeah, wrong.  You misstate what I said.

What I said was that steroid use isn\'t markedly associated with breakdowns.  Not \"drugs\".  You want to talk about the other 1000+ drugs on the track, let me know.

So you are in favor of complete clothing searches, complete body patdowns, of everyone entering the detention barn?  Twenty-plus people every 30 minutes, when there\'s a time schedule those people have to meet.  Doesn\'t sound doable to me.

Drapes\' article said they didn\'t watch him give it, they watched his hand come down and kick the syringe into the straw.  Thank goodness they saw that, or they wouldn\'t  have known anything.  Now they\'ve publically outed him as the smarmy liar he is.

I understood your comments. I think most of us did. Thanks for continuing to add your expertise to the board.

Sight-- wy do you always do that? No, you don\'t have to search EVERYBODY, EVERY TIME. But if you establish that you will be doing SOME searches you create a situation where over time bad guys are playing Russian roulette.

I dare you to let some NYRA hired minimum wage security hack put their hands on your person, in your pockets, or pat you down.

People are not giving much credit to the security personnel in the barn here, who caught the guy. They were doing their job.  Apparently very well to notice he was doing something to the horse at the back of the stall, and see him drop and kick the syringe.

What Mullins got as punishment however - finally - was a useless waste of time.  Big deal.  Racing will never change - get a national ruling commission - while all the Kings men have their own fifedoms to rule over.  Maybe when they die off?  I don\'t know ...

AGAIN-- why does it have be the minimum security etc.??? Why do you take something and extend it out to most extreme case?

I\'m pretty sure there\'s a reasonable way to get this done.
