Title: BC Wagering
Post by: Wrongly on October 29, 2009, 07:48:50 AM
What are they doing with the late Pick 3's and Pick 4's.  Are you kidding me?  The Dirt Mile in the late pick 4 and the Oak Tree Derby in the late pick 3.  Who made that decision?  Yea, let's force people to play bad races or skip the wager.  Terrible choice to put the Dirt Mile as race #7.

It\'s a rolling pick 3 for the whole day..so it would have rolled into that even if it was a claiming race..
The dirt mile is not bad as a pick 4 race..If you get busted there you can always get in on the next pick 4 in the race right after. I feel they should have broke up the pick four into an earlier race as opposed to back to back.

Is there anything you guys won\'t bitch about?? Some of you probably complained to your mom when you didn\'t get that Big Wheel you really wanted for Christmas,  overlooking all of the other wonderful things she did for you that day.  Honestly, this board is becoming one very large buzzkill.

Synthetics, Zenyatta v Rachel, drugs, takeout, short fields, horses skipping the BC, what races should be included in a P3/P4, blah blah blah.

Some of these things are worth discussing, to a point, but it just never freaking stops.  We have racing\'s biggest day in just about a week, yet here comes a post whining about P3 and P4 sequences?  Are you kidding?? Can everyone just give it a rest already??

The Santa Anita 2 years in a row for the BC and the effects of synthetics on this event have been beaten to death. We know where most of you stand on that subject. We don\'t need to re-visit that worn out subject either.

How about we talk about some actual racing, we have 14 BC events and despite some no-shows have some of the finest horses in the world competing. Can we just focus on that for a week, and then those of you that wallow in cynicism can go back to your routine of finding something else to bitch about?

I\'ll even deal with all of the post-race bitching about a bad ride (like we won\'t see 1 or 20 of those posts) or a tough beat or how you missed out on a 200k score because of said poor ride or bad trip. Honestly, I\'ve already braced myself for that.

But enough of the incessant bitching just to bitch.  I get enough of that at the job.

AMEN!!!!!!!!  Well said P-Dub. I love this game and all it entails. The equine and human athletes, the camaraderie in the clubhouse, and yes even the naysayers for their difference of opinion. Next week at Santa Anita is going to provide some memories that will last me until I\'m gone and very few events in a persons life fall into that category.

I totally agree yank. While my horse\'s chance appear slim he is doing so well we felt he deserved a shot.He has performed well on dirt and turf and something tells me that he might not embarass himself next Sat.But as you said this will be amemory that I will cherish for the rest of my life. You can\'t make a line on that.

Ray,

Have a great time next weekend and best of luck to you.

I enjoy the give and take around here, I\'ve had more than my share of \"civil discussions\".

But with a week to go lets save our opinions on what is wrong with the sport, no matter how valid, and concentrate our energies on cashing tickets.
