Title: Great Racing at Woodbine
Post by: Dana666 on October 16, 2009, 08:27:28 PM
Surprisingly the weather doesn\'t look too bad at Woodbine Saturday.

Two great grass races. Here\'s my take:

R9 EP Taylor
1-Treat Gently-Wouldn\'t surprise anyone w/a big performance. I\'m leaning elsewhere though.
2-Rainbow Vow-Her last win was SUPER! Probably hoping for firm(er) ground. Very efficient mover - gorgeous filly. Worthy favorite. FTL.
3-Lahaleeb-She makes a nice impression visually; I can\'t figure why they chose this race for her - the distance may be a little further than she wants to go - no lasix either. Probably a pass for me.
4-Eastern Aria- Hard trying little filly. She\'ll give you all she\'s got; will it be enough? Lasix added.
5-Princess Haya-Just beat Forever Together! Hard trying sort may just be getting good now. Hard for me to ignore though others entice me more.
6-Look Here-Very classy filly-been facing males and just split a Godolphin and a Juddmonte runner in her tune up for this. Have a feeling they might have been poiting for this race too. Looks imposing, really. FTL.
7-Roses n Wine- The speed here; you don;t usually steal races at Woodbine on the front end this time of year. Pass.
8-Salve Germania-Scored a shocker in the hurricane at Saratoga. Not sure what\'s coming today - she\'ll have to prove it to me.
My picks:
#6-Look Here
#2-Rainbow Vow
Use
#5, Princess Haya
#4, Eastern Aria
#1 Treat Gently
underneath in Tri\'s/Super\'s.

Canadian International
1-Champs Elyses-He might have won last time if not for the trouble, but I still think he may have lost a step this year. May be over-bet/over-rated.
2-Allied Powers: Live runner! He\'s coming into this race ready to fire his best. Look out, this Irish runner came to play at 12-1 no less! FTL
3-Quijano: Solid sort had no excuse in last; probably needs Lasix, but it ain\'t happening. Figures close late in any equation.
4-Just As Well: Really nice moving horse, gosh if he only had some pace to run at, not likely to happen here either - late charger!
5-Marsh Side- Got DQ\'d in a horrible call in last, won this race last year and has a huge pace advantage on his foes, may win it again.
6-Buccellati-Didn\'t impress me across the pond, maybe the Lasix will move him up, is that why he\'s here? I suppose it is possible. FTL
7-Jukebox Jury-Has a nice turn of foot, but I also think he\'s a cut below a really top horse, I\'m taking a mild stand against him - he does try like hell though.
8-Spice Route: Been off form lately, hoping to bounce back for Attfield - not sure what\'s coming now.

My Picks:
#2-Allied Powers to win at around 8-1 to 10-1.

The Int is wide open. I could see any one of them winning.

I\'ll go with Spice Route at what should be a decent price. Has the \'1\' in the race last year, and a decent 12f run in the spring. Freshened up after not handling the soft going last.
