In the words of the Boss, tonight I\'m headed \"across the river to the Jersey side\" for our annual neighborhood trip to the Meadowlands Cup.
Yeap, that\'s right, most guys throw block parties or BBQ\'s but I get the group together for the only real night of racing at the Meadowlands each year and the gang takes over the Pegasus Restaurant by storm.
There\'s some hyperbole in this of course as I live in Jersey to begin with but I was really trying to get a Springsteen reference in here so I quote the line above.
At any rate, at the risk of Richiebee yelling at me again for bashing NY racing, how come the Medowlands can come up with a better betting race for one 300k Grade 2 than Belmont can offer us with 5 Grade 1s on Fall Stars Weekend.
This isn\'t a bad little race. There\'s alot of ways to go in the race but I think Etched at a 7/2 ML and Kiss the Kid at a 12-1 ML both look interesting. This is Kiss the Kid\'s last race before heading to the breeding shed so I don\'t think they are going to leave anything in the tank and the colt has put up a few negative numbers on sloppy dirt tracks before. At anything near the 12-1 ML, I think this horse is live. Have to use Etched in there somewhere as well given this colt\'s immense talent. Often injured but very talented when he\'s in the gate.
Anyone else gonna make the trip across the river by any chance?
Not going but don\'t you think Meadowlands is a great place to watch a race? Great views. From the clubhouse seats you are really right on top of the track.
I always have a great time there. Not a bad seat in the house.
Just wish there were more races like tonight\'s there but I will take what I can get.
Good luck this weekend!
It\'s a great place to watch races---a shame about the horrible weather.
Covel,
Have a great time with your buddies. Sounds like a good time, good luck with the race..
thanks man, much appreciated. Headed over now!
good luck

Covel-- enjoy the \"Ghettolands\" tonight.
On the past Super Saturday at Belmont, 13 equine millionaires competed on the card
(fourteen if you count Interpretation, who became a millionaire by virtue of his
unlikely win in the Turf Classic). How many millionaires will compete at the
Meadowlands at their entire meet?
And for all of your complaining that Super Saturday didn\'t present wagering
opportunities, there were some juicy mutuels (thanks mostly to Interpretation\'s
shocking win).
Good racing tomorrow at Kee and Woodbine. SA has a great card if you are a fan of
the downhill turf course.
If you were a true fan of NJ racing you would be attending this weekend\'s
festivities at Far Hills.
\"Covel, can you lend me a few bucks tonight?
Can you get us a ride?
Gotta make it through the tunnel
Got a meeting with a mutuel clerk
On the other side.....\"
very nice job on the exacta! congrats, hope you had it big
Etched over Kiss the Kid, nice!
So very well played. You rule East Rutherford.
Thanks all, very much appreciated, there were quite a few more people there than I thought. It was a good atmosphere.
now who\'s gonna return the favor and give me a winner somewhere today?
Richie, those lyrics are classic.
Went over at the last minute...was a nice night. Was watching the paddock before the race...Anak Nakal worried me...first time Tricky. Horse looked absolutely fantastic (although my post parade inspections have not led to much parimutuel success). I\'d expect him to improve next out...
$41 exacta on a pair that was clearly best. Great call.
I\'m no Michael D. but I will try to give you a winner today and tomorrow. In the 8th at Santa Anita, I think Pasar Silbano is a tough horse with the best speed, in a speedy race. But I am thinking the jocks outside might let him go, and he won\'t give up easily at 6 1/2f. And 12-1 M/L. Tomorrow I like Barry Irwin\'s Kinsella , who looked like a real champ last out.
Very good 2nd for Pasar Silbano @ 21-1.
17.60 8.60 and a $70 Exacta with the chalk on top.
Nice call drbillym!
Thanks for the heads up on the 1 @ Santa Anita. I was all over that exacta. Thanks again.
