Title: Anyone check out the card at Oak Tree tomorrow???
Post by: Dana666 on October 09, 2009, 07:53:42 AM
Wow, what an afternoon of racing tomorrow, almost as good as Breeder\'s Cup day! I\'m going to the Yankee game tonight, so my work will start tomorrow morning. I\'ll post picks if I can, but everyone should get your T-G sheets and jump on in! If this card doesn\'t get your pulse going, you might be dead! I\'ve give out one winner though without studying anything: Indian Firewater in the first race. He\'ll be 2-5, but hey they have an early pick four, maybe you can hammer it. I was more impressed with Indian Firewater than Looking at Lucky when they both ran at Del mar.Anyway, let\'s hear some thoughts. Put your seat belts on and let the ride begin.

Dana,

Cards at SA and at Keenland are awesome tomorrow.

I wasn\'t gonna say anything because Richiebee is gonna yell at me again but compare Santa Anita and Keenland this weekend (including today for Keenland) to Belmont last weekend and again this weekend with smallish fields for the Frizette and Champagne.

I know that some of this is because the Breeders Cup is on the synthetic so people are trying to prep on the synthetics but I will tell you where my betting dollar is going tomorrow.

I have a horse running at Belmont and I am not even going out there because I want to focus on Santa Anita.

Great racing all over the place tomorrow (exept in NY).  Gonna be a fun day.

Absolutely! I\'ve been looking at both cards (Kee/SA) in anticipation for tomorrow. It\'s going to be a long day of work. Hopefully it\'s profitable.

My only concern is that it\'s supposed to rain all day and over night tonight in KY. I know they\'re off the turf today but should we be expecting numerous scratches in the Woodward, First Lady, and Shadwell?

OK, I\'ve looked over some races. Here\'s a quick glance before I head out.

Race 4
Yellow Ribbon
1-Magical Fantasy: She is just way too good for these - period!

Race 6
Oak Tree Mile
1-Times Gone By - I Might take  a shot for a minor upset here; I\'m no so thrilled with the others, kind of a fake Grade I in my opinion.
8-Allicansayiswow - She always runs her race and Fallon won\'t hurt her chances; she is facing a suspect group of males - maybe live.

Race 7 Goodwood
4-Colonel John: honestly, I think he lays over these if he runs his race, so much classier than these foes. I almost never win with Harty, but I think he would have run off the screen in the Pacific Classic if he had been on the outside.
8-Gitano Hernando: Wow, this 3 year old can really run! I was impressed with his races in England,I\'d  give him a shot here at 15-1.
1-Chocolate Candy: Might have some upside here, I was never sure if he was good enough for a grade I, but I think so many of the others in here are completely fake esp. Richard\'s Kid - Richard is the best of the rest and he\'s only a mediocre type on his best day. Mine That Bird will be interesting to watch. I was never a big fan of his either though - that 3 year old from England is as good if not better.

Race 8
Lady\'s Secret
Hmmmmm. . .wonder who\'ll win this one???

OK maybe a pick six or pick all might be a good play today -- good luck to all. I gotta go. Sorry for the fast analysis. Didn\'t get back from the Yankee game until 3 last night.

Dana,

Glad you enjoyed the game last night.

Looks like Indian Firewater will burn a lot of tickets.  My buddy \"wide\" Mikey Smith just gave a very professional ride on the #7 and rang the bell at 7/1.  Gave a nice rail ride down the backstretch and around the turn, found room between horses and powered home.  Not bad for a guy afraid to ride between horses and doesn\'t have the nerve to ride in traffic.

I never said that. I love Smith!

Dana--

Good analysis and hope the exacta in the in the Goodwood was reversed.

As long as there are overbet, overhyped horses such as MTB I will have to
continue playing this game. I think that MTB was simply a colt who was ahead of
his class stamina wise in early May and I do not believe he will win another
graded stake in what I hope is a long career for him.

As to the import winner, if Jerry\'s contention that Cal racing has been cleaned
up is correct, the Cal runners are a very vulnerable lot in the 09 BC.

you\'re right on here! i can\'t believe what is passing for Grade I runners in California. without all the doping, steroids, whatever, these horses are falling down - you could select about 5 big trainers out there who went from 30-40% winners to about 10%. no home field advantage anymore. synthetics hasn\'t helped either b/c you get certain runners who would be 50 K claimers on dirt, like richard\'s kid, contending for grade i races on synthetics - further weakens the california runners\' chances when they face really good horses from outside. to me the whole story has been one of the destruction of a great product - it\'s a sad joke really.
