Title: Sea the Stars
Post by: Wrongly on September 06, 2009, 07:54:12 AM
Rachel Alexandra\'s win yesterday overshadowed another outstanding 3-year old\'s performance.  Across the pond Sea the Stars won the Irish Championship Stake defeating Adain Obrien\'s Fame and Glory and Matercraftsman.  My understanding is Sea the Stars has received a 140 timeform rating for the win.  Would love to hear what the TG figure for the race was or even what range the figure falls into.

Jerry and comments on the race?

Timeform\'s Flat Editor Jamie Lynch commented: \"Mastercraftsman (130) appears to have run his race in third, and there is also good reason for believing that Fame And Glory deserves a rating of 135, and to be bracketed in the same league as Sinndar (134), Galileo (134) and St Jovite (135).

\"Therefore the form of the race looks solid, and we have given Sea The Stars a provisional rating of 140.

\"Furthermore, Sea The Stars again didn\'t look all out, leaving the impression there could be an even better performance in him if ever comes up against something able to test him fully.

\"He should now be classed as one of the all-time greats.\"

Timeform Ratings Since 1970

Brigadier Gerard 144
Mill Reef 141
Sea The Stars 140
Dubai Millennium 140
Dancing Brave 140
Shergar 140

Does anyone know if this horse is planning to run in the BC? If so - will he run in the turf or the classic? Thanks in advance

It was a very big figure for a 3yo on grass. First three are better than our grass 3yos, I\'ll hold further comment for the BC seminar.

Buck, I was on Racing Post yesterday and the bookmakers all were offering about 2-1 on Sea the Stars winning the Classic, which is roughly what they were offering on him to win the Arc. They were not offering odds on him for the BC Turf, so, presumably, the Arc/Classic double is their plan.

YouTube has the Irish Champion Stakes ... here\'s the link.
