Title: Pacific Classic
Post by: Michael D. on September 05, 2009, 05:50:37 PM
I\'m going with Richard\'s Kid here (15-1 ml). Ran the big figure going 9f on dirt, caught 2 sloppy tracks, then ran a \'1.5\' over the speed favoring Pim strip. Two efforts for Baffert haven\'t been spectacular, but it looks as though 10f over the Dmr poly might be a good fit for this guy, and the timing is much better. Smith will be wide turning for home, but should save the ground from the back around the 1st turn.

Parading at 10-1 is interesting. Top two ran 1-2 around the track at 10-1 and 23-1 last - might not have been his preferred surface. Big figure with a 12 flat final 1/8 last try poly.

Key Richard\'s Kid at a price.

Michael,

AGree that Richard\'s Kid is interesting, but not sure he is as good as Parading.  Parading didn\'t figure to run as well on the Cushion track at Hollywood, as that runs more like dirt.  The Delmar track plays much more like turf IMO and I would expect to see Parading run big.  Wish he was somewhere else besides post 11, but Bejarono from Post 11 is probably 6-5 to lose less ground than Smith from post 4.  (not a cheap shot P-Dub, just a handicapping opinion!!).

If Parading goes off at or near 10-1, he is definitely my key.

Definitely agree with you guys - both horses appear to be overlays and with Richards Kid Baffert has some black ink 3rd off a lay-off while Parading figures to run well off a \" near\" 0 2 X  . My only negatives on them are potential pace scenario and ground loss factors respectively . Rail Trip\'s pattern gets a little respect and to a lesser degree Colonel John , but tough to use either of those two on top at the dull prices though .

If you had said 2-1, fine.  6/5....thats a cheap shot.

Agree about Parading,  good luck tomorrow Jimbo.

Maybe we are talking about the wrong Baffert horse.

Good Luck,

Good one, Michael D.  I have the pick 3, but missed the exacta and tri because I tossed Einstein. I boxed the 1st 3rd and 4th place horses.

Congrats Mike D.

As a multiple share holder of Lemon Drop Kid, that was a pretty wonderful event for me all the way around.

Nice work!

Michael, thank you for bailing me out today.  I liked Einstein and only used Richard\'s Kid because of your confident, well thought out assessment.  Great exacta payoff- I owe you one!

Michael,

You make more great price selections on this board than anybody.  Great pick today. Congratulations on a fantastic score.

You guys know how I feel about Smith, well timed and a strong finish.

I was really impressed with Einstein, very game getting a wide trip. Truly a professional and hard not to root for him. Will see him in 2 months.

Again, great job michael.

Thanks folks.

Looking at Trakus here, Parading ran 3 lengths faster than the winner, 5 lengths faster than Einstein, and NINE LENGTHS FASTER THAN RAIL TRIP. When it mattered though, RK had the heart, running a solid :24.41 final 1/4. Smith was wide the entire way, but he measured this one very well and found little traffic. Nice ride Mike.

Mike D. considering I got up off the recliner with no form or numbers to bet one of those two and took the one who got the best number but paid zilch this doesn\'t make me feel any better.

I figured the delayed response from you was you were off somewhere swimming in a \"sea of sin\" after the big score.

The fact you put this one up a solid day in advance deserves extra credit.
