Title: East Coast vs. West Coast 3yo fillies on the turf
Post by: covelj70 on August 20, 2009, 09:16:23 PM
Really interesting that most of the fillies who are running in the G2 Lake Placid at the Spa are faster than most of the fillies running in the G1 Del Mar Oaks.

Now, maybe Well Monied scared some of the others away in the Del Mar Oaks (she\'s no lock based on the sheets but I do think she will win and she is faster than the east coast fillies) but it sure does seem like there\'s quite a difference in quality of the overall 3yr old turf fillies on the east coast and west coast.

Maybe Gozzip Girl going east and dominating the Hollywood turf race for 3yr old fillies should have told us that but to have G2 horses on the east coast running mostly faster than Grade 1 horses on the west coast is striking to me.

The Lake Placid is a Grade 2 joke like most turf racing in the US.A totally common bunch which Cov advises are FASTER than the Cali\'s Gr1 Fillies. What happened to turf horses in this country?

Time to head across the pond and buy some real turf runners.
