Title: Brooklyn Picks
Post by: covelj70 on June 02, 2009, 07:06:55 PM
Kudos to TG for getting the sheets out early for Friday at Belmont.

The Hill Price looks great with Lime Rickey having broken through to a big new top on the move back to the sod last time.  He looks really solid as maybe the 3rd choice as he should save ground vs Affirmatif and they look about the same going in.  Conservative will take alot of money and has a really nice pattern but I think is worth taking a shot against as he hasn\'t run fast enough in his turf tries which isn\'t surprising given that he\'s bred better for the dirt.

The Brooklyn is a nice race as well.  I agree with Jimbo\'s take that EA looks really solid as he\'s the fastest consistent horse going in and he should save ground all the way around (side note, could these Dynaformers be any hotter, 1,2,3 finish in last weekend stakes and likely winner in this one). I think it\'s also worth using Alcomo who paired fast numbers in first two starts in the US and could move forward at a price and I will use Rising Moon as my third choice.  Rising Moon looks a step slower than the others but just a step and Gomez is a move up jockey if there is such as thing and so given he\'s almost as fast, I don\'t think you can leave him out.  I will throw out Dellosvientos as I don\'t like playing horses to bounce back all the way to previous tops after Xing (except for Jimbo who is primed for a big one of course)

My Brooklyn/Belmont double is:

EA/Charitable Man x5

EA, Alcomo and Rising Moon/Charitable Man x1

Be careful Covelj.  That looks like a gambler\'s bet and not an owner\'s bet.  Plus, if you hit, you will get way more than 3-5.  Be careful, you will ruin your reputation....

The Hill Prince is interesting.  The horse that looks WAY worse on TG than on other figs is Duke of Homberg.  On TG, he can\'t hit the triple and is top weighted and gets Dominguez.  Assuming he takes money, he has to be played against.  I think you have the right potential key in Lime Rickey, but I would also consider using Hero\'s Image in my pick-3.  He got pretty soundly beat last time by Affirmatif, but got a pretty indecisive ride and gets a jockey switch to Cornelio for this.  With Affirmatif drawn outside and having run less much impressive to me in his last race than the TG figure shows, I could use a Lime Rickey, Hero\'s Image and even Rendevzous and Elmfield Boy, assuming the last two go off at 10-1 or higher. Elmfield Boy ran a nice race on poly last time and the Medaglia D\'Oros can run on turf too.
