Quotes of the Day:

\"If she runs at all on the plastic, it will be because she\'s so damn good that she can beat the boys in the Classic, not the Ladies\' Classic. I don\'t want to race on plastic at all. I shouldn\'t have run Curlin, and I\'m not going to run her--unless she has no other frontier to conquer.\"--Jess Jackson discussing Rachel Alexandra, as reported by Jennie Rees at courier-journal.com

\"It they do decide to go (in the Belmont), it\'ll be (Jackson\'s) decision. She came out of the Preakness pretty knocked out. Steve wants no part of the Belmont. She\'d be a classic bet-against.\"--New York Post, citing an unnamed source at Churchill Downs

\"She was catching a heat stroke and I was very concerned about her. I wanted to get her back and get some water on her. My biggest concern was the horse, because I know she\'s the greatest thing in the world and she was getting overheated. She struggled so much in the race, and when I pulled her up she started acting a little funny. I know that because I know her like the back of my hand. She never did that before. Once we got water on her, she was fine.\"--Calvin Borel discussing the aftermath of the Preakness with Reuters

3 pretty fascinating statments I think although we always have to be careful about the \"unamed source\"

I think this supports alot of what gets discussed on the board:

1) polytrack is bad for racing
2) when horses come back from big efforts too fast, horses get knocked out
3) the filly shouldn\'t run in the Belmont

Based on the vibes the connections are sending, I don\'t think she will run which makes me very happy from a fan perspective.  I can find bad favorites to bet against anyday, I don\'t get to see fillies like this race everyday.
