Title: Black Eyed Suan/Preakness Double
Post by: covelj70 on May 15, 2009, 01:59:57 PM
I think the Black Eyed Susan is pretty wide open so I will try to make RA\'s odds a bit better by going 5 deep in this one and singling the big filly.

2,5,7,8,9 over 13.

If I catch a price here, maybe I can save myself some money and not bet anymore on her tomorrow in case many on the board here are right and she lays an egg.  I don\'t think that will happen but it\'s not worth paying to find out at 6-5.

Covelj,

You just about break even if the 2, 7 or 8 come out.  They are paying $15, $15 and $!5 for your $10 investment.

You will get better in the win pool.  Tough to play the first five favorites over the favorite in the double and win.

I believe the 2 is the horse to beat in the BES.  I will be keying her with a number of horses in the Preakness (excluding RA of course).  Bigger bets on POTN and FF, currently paying $73 and $56.

I just bet a small one, the 2 Payton D\'Oro with 1 Big Drama and 8 General Quarters.

better than breakeven with the 2 winning (essentially getting 8-5 which is really bad as you say considering where she is in the win pool). Clearly didn\'t work out.  I was hoping the 5 would get up, then it would have been interesting.

let\'s just chalk that up to my first dump play of the weekend.

Covelj,

Not to nit-pick you, but you are getting 3-5, not 8-5.  It is paying $16 for your $10 bet.  That is 3 to 5.

And as Harvey Pack used to say, there is not a man alive who paid off the mortgage at 3-5....

oh good lord, you are right, jesus, I need to lay off the booze.

I think this is a sign that I just need to go play shuffleboard tomorrow or something!  this can\'t end well......
