Title: Summer Bird will probably be 50-1 by postime
Post by: Leamas57 on April 27, 2009, 04:12:49 PM
This horse would have to get a magic trip but there\'s rain ahead and the chance of heavier, slower surface would benefit him. I am going to key him in exa/tri/super. I know we\'re a small cult on this horse, but look what 12 guys did 2000 years ago.

Good luck with your pick. I have him penciled in for the lower rungs of the tri and super but as you know, this is the K Derby where anything can happen. On the weather front, NWS office in Louisville is predicting only a %30 chance of scattered showers as of now. Thursday night we\'ll get a much clearer picture but as of now it looks 70% dry for the Derby.

fwiw, they had the trainer, Tim Ice, on a local radio station here in Louisville tonight.  Sounded like it was more of the owner\'s call to run than it was his.

Thanks,UB:

If it rains for a couple days prior, they will work the heck out of it, but I am guessing that it will be on the slower side. Nice that you see him as maybe hitting the tri or super, though. If he keeps learning, he might be a major Belmont Stakes player with that \"go all day\" stride like his daddy.
