Title: The two Derbys
Post by: kev on April 06, 2002, 03:04:47 PM
Just heard Gary Stevens talk about EAST G. race said the bridled was put on worng and he had no control over his horse as much as he liked to had.
I\'m going to say EASY G. ran the 3.1 like i though he would have. and CAME HOME ran a 4.0 and the LUSTY LATIN ran a 4.2 maybe.

This race is hard for me to say but i will anyways. WAR E. ran back to his 1.0 and REPENT ran a 4.0

If CAME HOME say did run the 4.0 this might be a good horse not to play in the KY Derby. and at low I say he\'ll be around 4-1 to 7-1 range.

TG--Except for Repent, yeah. Remember Repent carried 124, 10 more than the winner, and lost ground. 1 length at 9 furlongs is worth a bit more than 1/2 a point.

Mccarron had a tough older horse go only three lenghts faster a few races before Came Home ran, with a perfect rail skimmimg trip the whole way. I would not get too down on Came Home\'s race. I do agree, however....the extra 1/8th will not be very kind to him in the derby. I am going to look towards the top few Wood finishers, Perfect Drift, and Easy Grades on Derby day. (Harlan\'s Holiday ?? Eddy D, Bailey, John V, Gary Stevens.... I can\'t put Prado in that category, he will find some way to blow it in a 20 horse field)
