Jerkens moving the work last week up a day and it being maybe a little quicker than he wanted could be some signs of panic by a trainer who doesn\'t have alot of experience in the Derby.

I think this is where a guy like Baffert has a HUGE edge.

Extremely talented colt, could be the next Smarty Jones or Unbridled Song. Hope this helps.

HP - He\'s still in NY. The following was posted to the NYRA site yesterday. Unclear if he will work over the CD track.

***********************

Hoof specialist Ian McKinlay said that the quarter crack he treated on Quality Road is a "done deal," and the colt is on schedule for his next appearance, the Kentucky Derby at Churchill downs on Saturday, May 2.

Considered one of the favorites for the "Run for the Roses," Quality Road developed a crack on his right-hind quarter during his track record-setting victory over Dunkirk in the Grade 1 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park on March 28.

"It's ice cold," McKinlay said. "He's moving well and he's ready to go."

Trainer Jimmy Jerkens is planning on heading to Louisville, Ky. on Tuesday, and may fit one more breeze into the Elusive Quality colt before he ships.

According to Todd Pletcher, the Gulstream staff significantly \"sped up\" the racing surface on FL Derby day yet Quality Road regressed numbers wise and popped a quarter. Gets needed rest, gets the best hoof guy in the Biz but in the end I think this guy is destined for the BC mile and not 10 furlong roses. I respect his raw talent, connections and speed enough however to use him underneath and on top in a few saver bets. Of the three \"fast ones\" IWR has answered more questions so far than this guy has IMO.
