Title: FOY 2nd Qtr Time
Post by: Silver Charm on February 28, 2009, 03:40:56 PM
Jerry and Alan (or Nick) nice job on the the two Stakes.

I needed Vanquisher so as it was I got nothing today. The Buffalo Man read was worth a shot because that Tampa race was so baaaaaad and yet here was running right back.

Please take a look at the second quarter timing of the FOY.

21 and 4. I would like to say if it is correct then Prado needs a brain surgeon but then again the winner was right there too.

The GP clock seemed to go almost haywire in the last couple because both were really fast. The Derby confusion get muddier.

Hope you guys all hit it hard.

Indeed. The maiden winner in the 10th went quicker than the winner of the Canadian (G3).  I half time for the FOY was pretty much expected, but with different splits.

If the time in that last is right then Pletcher needs to heading to a Polytrack Graded Race at Turfway, or Keeneland then on to the Derby.

Wonder what he saw a couple of years ago that had him going after all of these Unbridled Songs

I just saw Take the Points is another Pletcher trained son of Even the Score who is by Unbridled Song.

Per Steve Haskin\'s article in the Bloodhorse, the 2nd qtr time is not correct...

\"There is one other note regarding Gulfstream. It is time to simply ignore the fractions in one-mile races run out of the chute. In order to give horses as much room as possible behind the gate for safety reasons, the gate is moved up, so instead of having a run-up before the teletimer is triggered, the timing starts as soon as the horses break. As a result, the opening quarter in the Fountain of Youth was a sluggish :23 4/5, while the  half was run in :45 2/5. That means the second quarter was run in :21 3/5 after a :23 4/5 first quarter. Sorry, but horses simply do not do that, so pay no attention to the fractions of this race.\"
