FWIW, GG has at least 5 races carded today with 12 runners. Why then, do they card their 4th race, which is ALWAYS they manga pic5 race, with 5 runners? Why, because it would take too much effort for someone to actually look at things from a bettors standpoint, realize big fields in these exotics are what give you the big payouts, and at least give the appearance of considering the player. Wait, maybe someone did look at the sequence, realized that more people would hit if they card short flds! Of course, that\'s it. My point is, I don\'t get the feeling that anyone really looks at these things from a bettors standpoint.
dodie - you nailed it. very true. I don\'t get it either...seems that it would be MUCH better (bettor?) for the MEC to have a full field.
Wow.. So in other words, the 2 of you have hit EVERY WEEK for the $26,350, $6,100, $12,450 and $9,900 payoffs during the first 4 Magna 5\'s because the GG leg has been a formful, smaller field ALW! That\'s remarkable... Congratulations!

Well, thanks. But you are premature in your congratulations...don\'t we all want big fields? That really would be remarkable, and ironically I lost that leg...but since you brought this up, I heard on the radio today that a guy in So Cal has hit the pik 6 four times since October...anybody else hear of that feat? It\'s just one guy/gal...not a group - at least that\'s the story. He\'s apparently fairly well known.
Shan..
Didn\'t mean to be flippant but I\'d much rather see that leg at GG be a 6 horse field of real ALW horses than a 10 horse $10k/N2L field. And the GP, SA and LRL legs have been so solid and difficult that a breather in the sequence is a welcome necessity. Given the fun, innovation and success of this concept, I thought it was a bit petty to teeth-gnash over one leg having a short field. Those short fields have been offset with 12 horse turf races at Gulfstream or inscrutible maiden affairs at Santa Anita every week.
Here are the results the first four weeks with the $1 minimum. Luckily, there has been at least one very reliable favorite in the sequences at either GG or LRL. And there have been cases where the LRL or GG fave has faltered as well... Maybe I\'m alone in this thinking, but this wager, even at the $1 minimum, needs a leg each week where you can feel good about singling or going narrow...
