7/2 Morning line now in line at 3/5 with 10 minutes to post.
What the F is that
I know its kinda late to post this, but(the numbers on) the winner and second place finisher looked like they would be no less than top three. I played it spot on with the only miss being the Tri(which i did not play). 2-8 ex $268 4x, and the winner WP. I made a small saver WP on the 8 and collected(place) at 18-1. The 4 did not look like 3/5 or even close. \"Someday\'s your you walk around lucky and dont even know it\".

I\'ll never understand people who bet multiple horses to place in the same race. The takeout plus breakage makes this a losing proposition.
Maybe someone can enlighten me as to why one would employ this strategy?

Ed,
Read a book about money management once(don\'t recall name) but it stated that any time you made more than one bet, of an equal amount, on two different horses, it was poor wager from a money management standpoint.
As I recall,it did not have to do with takeout but rather with dilution of the wager. For example, if you were wagering $100 in exactas, a poor play would be to make a $50 exacta box.The proper bet would be a $40 exacta box and a $20 press on one of the combinations.Apparently, you are never supposed to have less than 60-70% of your money on one combination.
According to the book, all those 3-4-5 horse boxes(for an equal amount) are poor bets from a money management standpoint as are any bets for equal amounts in the same race.

The wager that is being discussed(or my against all odds betting strategy) was not as crazy as you might think. Yes betting two horses is not the best move most of the time, but only making the #2 (8-1) a little better choice over the #8 (18-1), I saw it as an opportunity mainly b/c I was not sold on the 3/5 fav . Total bet on the race was only $80 and I used both of them on top with the exact same horses underneath.($8 ex with the 2 on top, 4$ with the 8 on top). The race fell into shape and it worked out better than I expected. Not the norm for me, but I purchased one sheet all day and it was for that race.
