Post by: firmturf on January 09, 2009, 08:48:29 AM
Is the FG feature the ROTW this week?

I vote for the Lecompte if my vote counts at all.... but I am a bit tainted.

I don\'t know if I would use any variation of the word \"taint\" when referencing myself.  Perhaps you are a bit biased.

There is a broodmare named \"Taint\" and one of her foals runs at Tup and then another in Maryland.

The powers that be should be happy I don\'t have the right to name her foals because I would have a lot of fun with that!

OK...Biased is more inline. I agree with that.

It is interesting how each of the entries have their questions.

Fresian Fire
Beaten Favorite with only one win as huge favorite in first out. Will he rate and if he does is he good enough.  With extra spacing he went backward beyer-wise

Au Moon
Crushed first out and came back to win last against ungraduated at CD.  Is he good enough to overcome a bounce?  Wide on both turns in last.

Citizen [/b
Needs to improve a bit to compete to make a dent in these.  He is a stake winner at HAW and ran well in FG Allowance but competition is a bit tougher here.

Patena
First time on dirt, plus shipping from Woodbine.  Can he continue to jump forward? Albarado might think so. Why the break between 2nd and 3rd race?  Couple that with forward moves? Stress of it all...we\'ll see?

Big Push
Never a backwards race numbers wise.  Breeding may catch up.  Sprinters build trying to stretch out.  Always pressed in recent races.  What happens when not presed....but if pressed, who wants to chance burning out jeopardizing this as a viable stepping stone to bigger and better things.  Albarado jumps off to ride Patena so Albarado may know how much leash to give before trying to reel him in.

Dynamic Force
One could argue why is he even here.  THere is FL bred $$$ in 2 weeks for $250k and he has no Dirt experience, but he has 2 wins.  One of those winswas against PATENA of all horses.  10-1 vs Patena at 3-1...hmmm.  I still think Patena is a far better horse, but then again if you are controlling htis horse what do you do knowing you beat Patena and winning of $76k plus running well at FG in last and winning.  But then again the race time and beyer was not that fast.

Professor Z
Scratched....perhaps for good reason with the forward moves extra time is not a bad idea.  he obviously would have been tough to ignore though.

Uno Mas
Lots of forward moves of late.  Nice steady improvement.  Small field in last with two of 5 at 40 to 1-ish.  Steps up in competition here but siblings have similar quality wins like this would be.  Family-wise can he continue the trend? Post 6 is half of what post 1-5 is currently at FG

Indygo Mountain
Trainer states that there have been two seperate abcesses and interferred in training schedules and Vet scratch missed race at FG, although that appears to be somewhat under control.  Additionally he only has two races under his belt.  IF he can overcome thes issues he is amesome everything else.  He is only a Maiden winner, but you have to start somewhere. Post 7 is half of what post 1-5 is currently at FG

Predictions prior to Post:

Additional scratches perhaps?

Up to 3 horses have a shot to go elsewhere for various reasons.  They all do for that matter.  There is no penalty for scratching even a few minutes before race.  What is Indygo Mountain is not 100%, why not wait and get all the PUB and play it out a bit. If there are more scratches (already admitted not 100% healthy) it may be worth the try if the right ones scratch....I could be reacing on this one.  My guess is that he is running nad I am speculating far too hard.

Extraction and disection
Fresian Fire, Au Moon and Indygo Mountain have only beat Maidens

Patena, Big Push (by a slim margin) and Dynamic Force have never won on the dirt.

Uno Mas has Only won on the dirt, one of which is at FG

Red Apples to Green Apples
There were two NWX1 allowance poly races at Keeneland 3 days apart ...yeah yeah yeah...they were different distances 7f vs.6f , but still it is an interesting commonality to peek inside this race in a awy.

If you take the fractions for what they are and pretend that the races are overlaying each other at the 6 furlong mark you would have the following scenario (assuming tat 5 lengths is a second - I am sure someone will immediately correct me and I will embarrass myself here)

Splits for 6f race were 21.4, 45.1, (57.0) and 109.2
Splits for 7f race were 22.1, 45.4, 1:10.2, and 1:23.2

Here is what it would look like
Big Push in front with a lead of the following with 2 fulongs left to run in the one turn sort stretch Lecompte:

Indygo Muntain  6 3/4 lengths
Citizen         7 lengths (in same race Based on DRF actual)
Uno Mas         11 1/2 lengths
AU Moon         21 lengths probably needed a race  as it was first outing

It will be interesting to see who graduates from this race.

I did the race for ROTW, it\'ll be up in a little while. Then you can see the real figures.

Good luck with Big Push.

I see 70% chance of rain - how quickly do they pull those turf sprints off the grass down there? I like that card if it stays dry.
Title: Albarado in 2 places at once
Post by: Majestic Paul on January 09, 2009, 06:06:37 PM
Albarado is listed on Silver tree at GP Stake on Sat as well as his mounts at FG.... Nice to be in demand.  He is not that good that he can be in two places at once....or is he?

Nice Job guys. The 72% chance of a Top or Pair in the Thoro-Pattern was even more reason to lay it down on this one.

Having Kiss the Kid just before never hurts either.

As in their money.....
