Title: Hollywood Futurity
Post by: Silver Charm on December 19, 2008, 10:51:48 AM
Believe it or not there is real racing going on and did I hear someone say, \"Derby Prep\" this weekend.

Forgetting all the gloom and doom of bailouts, depressions, recessions, layoffs, Madoffs and on and on can be easily solved by sitting back with a DRF and some good numbers and enjoying oneself.

Also people should remember Christmas is in a week.

Opening Day at Santa Anita..........

Dont be so disconsolate, your Federal Govt went into the auto business today.
A cynic has already pointed out that the Big 3 are one of the world\'s largest
healthcare providers.

Quick Film review-- the much discussed \"The Wrestler\" is not easy to watch,
yet IMO Rourke and Tomei posted new lifetime tops. Is there a law that says if
a flick is filmed or takes place in NJ that a Springsteen song has to be playing
over the closing credits?

Will have no commerce with Holly on Saturday. I will be playing FG where fair
weather should allow grass racing. Five consecutive 60K stake races, not the
worst way to spread some purse money around.

Chocolate Candy - Sire, Candy Ride, has the 10f track record at Dmr (1.59). Dam by Seattle Slew. 2nd dam by Alydar, out of dam of Affirmed. Think this guy might want a mile and a quarter in May?

Is he quick enough to win a grade 1 at 1 1/16 though? Over the cushion, a surface he really isn\'t bred for? Not sure.

Richie-- yes, there is such a law. As there should be.

Tomei will have to go some to top In The Bedroom.

Any movie containing the words \"Tomei\" and \"In The Bedroom\" works for me. I want to see the movie where she breaks through that top.

Michael, nice looking longstrider with a good future ahead of him. I thought for a moment like he might pick\'em all up about midstretch but the winner seemed to hit another gear when the runnerup came up on his inside.

Winner was a bit of a headscratcher. Heavy drive late far turn. Little kick once he switched then gamely to be up at the wire.

Did we see a Derby winner here or a Lanes End, Blue Grass, SA Derby group? We will just have to wait and see.

It does put Baffert back into a visible role and that nowadays is good for the sport.

I think Baffert will make more than a little noise in \'09.  The job he did with Midnight Lute in the sprint this year should be commended as well.

he ran the best figure in the race Silver. he figured to need more distance, and might need a different surface.

It will be interesting to see how all these Cabdy Rides\' feet hold up. Daddy was always ouchy.
