Title: More Craziness
Post by: richiebee on October 27, 2008, 04:38:10 AM
Did any one else catch the brief, bizarre, between race interview with Michael
Iavarone, where the I Exude Amazing Hypocrisy stable manager revealed that he
had received threats from unnamed \"extremists\" prior to Big Brown\'s Belmont?

Can not find this story reported anywhere else.

I didn\'t see that interview but I did see the massive bodyguard that didnt\' leave his side the entire weekend.  I think this guy is going to have a tough time getting over the fact that he\'s not a big deal anymore (to the extent he ever was).

Memo to Mike:

The owners of the horses that run 2nd in the mile and 3rd in the Juv Fillies Turf don\'t need bodyguards

One thing I will say though is that it\'s ashame that Big Brown didn\'t make it out there because the way the track was playing favored his explosive move running style quite a bit.  He would have had a big shot in the race.  I was never his biggest fan but I would have liked to have seen him on the pro ride before his career was over.

Big Brown ran horses into the ground from the gate. he really wasn\'t the explosive type. he was one paced, and his finishes were always the slowest part of his race - the opposite of what you needed to win this weekend.

no way to know for sure, but I think BB would have been battling Curlin for the bottom of the super (at best). those horses he just barely beat in the Mth Turf weren\'t Raven or Henry by any stretch.

Agreed.  And Shakis and Proudinsky haven\'t flattered that performance since.

Nice call on Raven\'s Pass.  I used him on top but missed all of the exotics because I left the 5 off of all of my tickets.

I would have liked to have seen Heatseeker race in the Classic. Too bad he got hurt earlier this year. He would have had a big shot.

I would have liked to have seen Go Between not parked behind Casino Drive and Fairbanks when they both suddenly stopped at the quarter pole.

He would have had a big shot.

P-Dub look at the bright side you have this years three year old crop (minus Big Brown) to look forward to in next years Classic.

BARF!!

totally fair on Big Brown.

For the Kentucky Derby, I thought he showed the kind of big move that would have played well this weekend but in many of the other races, he was kind of the high cruising speed horse that didnt\' fare well this weekend.  Might not have been realistic to expect him to ever run back to the Derby performace.

Great job by the publicity shy Iavarone waiting for Breeders Cup Day/ National
TV spot to make these serious and troubling threats public.

Even when he is a sympathetic figure, he can be pretty pathetic.
