Title: Strategy Conundrum
Post by: HP on October 24, 2008, 07:35:51 AM
As I think about what to do in the first race - it seems to be a microcosm of what I will be facing throughout.  Sorry in advance if this sounds dumb, but if anyone has any ideas, please post...

If this were a regular day at the track - I would either try to hook up Indian Blessing with something underneath or PASS.  Ordinarily there is only one reason to go against her - she is over the top.  However, even if she was over the top, she can bounce to a zero and still beat these.  Just doesn\'t make sense to me to buck her.  On the other hand - two things.

1)  Pro Ride - I feel like I should just assume that the results will be wacky.  This may cause Indian Blessing to run substantially worse.  Maybe not.

2)  Every year I see races where a favorite come in on top with two mid-priced horses under and the tri pays $600!  So you pass up this easy money shooting for the moon.

Maybe I will try to cover both possibilities (chaos results and logical stuff that could pay off in big dumb pools) early until I go broke.  What are you guys going to do?

Thanks in advance.

In dealing with the days big favs (IB,ZEN,Curlin) Throwing out zen and curlin, using IB very definsively, and going heavy in Pk 3\'s and a few heavy win bets.

Good Luck
