This BC seems to be shaping up as a really good one. Horses are coming from everywhere. There are some watered down events (the BC Marathon ??) but there are some others like the Down-the-Hill Turf that figure to be skullbusters and a blanket-finish-on-the-line type excitment.
Curlin if he takes to the Synthetic in his mid-afternoon work will add some buzz if he goes and a bit of an air loss if he passes.
Seven years ago New York was trying to recover from the aftershock of 9-11. Last year this time people in Calif were losing their homes because of the fires. This year a crumbling world wide financial system and idiotic bickering political leaders(jokes) destroying the publics faith instead of building it.
Sometimes when things are down the people turn to sports for a diversion, a collaborative cause to rally around.That is a lot to ask for horse racing to fill that void. But there still is enough color, pageantry and beauty to be spread around for two days that you may as well try.
Who knows it might actually work.....
