Lost in a lot of the post-race discussion is what Nick Zito accomplished with an allowance horse. This reminded me of Shifty Sheikh nearly holding off Hall of Famer Slew O\' Gold, but without the Oscar magic pill.
IMO....this is the best 3yo colt trainer I have ever seen and that includes Woody, Baffert, Lukas, etc. My reasoning?....these guys all had better stock.

I\'ve never been a big FAN of his training because I can rarely guage how any of horses are going to run. That experience is typical for me with very low percentage trainers (and I\'m being generous in calling them low percentage). However, he does seem to have an uncanny ability to get his horses to peak on the right day which IMO IS a sign of some kind of high level competence.

Actually Joe B, I don\'t recall saying anything about those fine gentlemen or boats. I just find it interesting how different people attribute the causes for surprise results by different trainers.

I agree. Some trainers know how to develop a 3 year old through training regimen and conditioning while others rely on more chemical-like methods.
Sort of like the difference between controlling your cholesterol through daily exercise and diet as opposed to taking Lipitor.

He had a nano years back,I think, fought it like Pletcher, Lukas,Baffert and several others.They all lose on the trainer responsibility rule( rule changed as a direst result of the RIDICULOUS trace positive of Pletcher years back)
The number of positives for the \"day to day\" stuff is over rated but penalties should still more severe to ensure that trainers are more diligent as to when and how much their horses are treated.
