Title: Opportunity Knocks...
Post by: colt on July 29, 2008, 12:02:55 PM
Great article by Paulick as always...I get the feeling that the current management at TVG will try everything to lessen it\'s value so that they can scoop it up dirt-cheap and try to hold onto the current broken model...

Very intelligent article. Thanks for posting it, colt. Paulick puts it brilliantly when he says both sides would rather "fight over table scraps" for the dubious honor of beating the other guy, rather than cooperating and making more money for both. Kind of reminds me of a suicidal speed duel in a race.

This is a complex issue not easy to understand, let alone solve, but from what I've been able to grasp, Paulick seems to have his finger on both the cause and a rational solution.

I\'m curious who is bidding.

HRTV-TrackNet Media seems unlikely, gven that Magna is drowning in debt and HRTV is already positioned to pick up the pieces if TVG craters.

With horse racing revenue stagnant or declining, the industry in turmoil, and TVG losing anchor tracks, why would an outsider be interested?

Maybe someone who already has an interest to protect, like Los Alamitos?  A foreign broadcast operation, like ATR?
