Title: Can of worms, opening
Post by: TGJB on December 03, 2002, 08:08:37 PM
I will send those interested in the veracity of those who claim they invented the wheel to the article by Dan Kenny on the last page of the 11/30 Blood-Horse, where he reviews the career of one recently departed Buddy Abadie. Shortly after WWII Mr. Abadie hired an engineer from MIT to \"come up with numerical tables to correlate weight and speed and a track variant. He even added a table for estimated wind velocity and direction\". Also, \"He timed the races from the gate to the wire (ignoring the flag fall that started the teletimer) with a hundreth-second stopwatch\", and \"had charts of the different positions of the starting gates at every track he attended\".
