Steroids are not a problem if the horse is removed from racing and treated until the need for therapy is corrected.
Of course you will continue to have breakdowns due to excessive muscle mass for the amount of bone development of these horses that have been on steroids since probably even before they tasted colostrum.
Has Waldrop really been with NTRA seven years already????
Minimal penalties are the problem now.
If a vet is ignorant about the drugs he administers, why not remove his license to practice and/or even be found near a racetrack?
Does anyone think the AAVP is at all responsible for the actions of the racetrack vets and that they will do anything to uphold the sacred code to animals that they profess?
And if a trainer is dumb enough to use that vet, take his license too. Get both in court trying to keep their license and I\'m sure they will blame either the jock, groom or hot walker..
You don\'t really expect the Jockey Club or any other Kentucky organization to do any thing to dilute their monopoly?
