Title: NYC OTB and Track Take
Post by: fkach on June 13, 2008, 01:21:42 PM
I\'m hearing that part of the agreement for the state taking over NYC OTB will be raising the take 1%.

Why would there be a dispute on a negative dollar amount?

Clearly a $6M loss exceeds the $17M in surcharges that go directly into the coffers.... r-i-g-h-t?

Is there any doubt this will \"sunset\" in a couple years?

When\'s the last time a local/state/federal increase went away?  Typically, one-time means...FOREVER.

Strange that the mayor was just on TV  app 7:00 pm and said the deal is unsatisfactory and OTB will shut down on Sunday??

The poor players, with no voice, take it on the chin again. It\'s a shame we can\'t stick it up their a-- as a unified group.

The whole bunch of them are corrupt, incompetent, despicable, scum of the earth. Even at $130 a barrel I\'d like to see them all buried in a pit of oil.

SJ,

The additional takeout is deducted regardless of where you bet. The extra 1% percent comes from the entire NYRA pool. This is just another stickup of the players by the clueless politicians who are well aware that most players will grumble but still play.
