Title: Prado to ride Casino Drive per DRF
Post by: covelj70 on May 28, 2008, 10:47:04 AM
seems like the logical choice after Gomez was named on Macho and Take was committed to a contract ride in Japan the next day.

Does not matter, who gets on. He will either have horse turning fot home, or he won\'t! What did Gomez do for Hard Spun last year? It\'s all about the horse! Give me, Omar Berrio.

Funny you mention what Gomez did to Hard Spun last year because the West Point guys asked me over the weekend about the swtich to Gomez on Macho and that\'s exactly the story that I reminded them of.

Now, I have always thought that Gomez was alot better coming from off of it than he was on the lead but stil, I wouldn\'t have taken Leperoux off of Macho after the good rides he gave him in the Derby Trial and the Preakness.

It\'s all crap! I have never paid all that much attention to the rider. This game is all about the horse.

Abosolutely correct...You could have put anybody on Hard Spun and gotten the same result in the stakes, He just could not handle that distance..Put Gomez on Hard spun in the Derby or Preakness though and you might have had a different outcome..

To say a jockey doesn\'t matter is silly.  \"Trips\" are a major factor in many races..Not all races..but many of them.  The jockey is a big factor in the the kind of trip a horse gets..so how can you say a jockey doesn\'t matter? If 2 jocks theoretically give a horse the same trip..then yes I agree..but you can\'t really believe jocks don\'t matter.  We\'ve all lost big bets at the wire because a jock gave a bad ride..be it a wide trip...a poorly timed move..etc!

I like Edgar Prado. If you give me two 5-1 shots equal on ability and give me the option of Edgar Prado or Jose Espinosa, I\'ll take Prado every time.

That said - Prado has been acting and riding foolishly lately. He totally tried to box in BB in the Preakness. The video doesn\'t lie. He also BODY SLAMMED the horse Desormeaux was riding last week when he won aboard Monastic Springs on Friday. He definitely should have been taken down and given days for that. It was a blatant foul.

I think Prado has it in for Kent D because Kent D took a lot of biz from him when he was out injured last year.

As for Casino Drive, It won\'t matter who is on him. He appears to be able to stay the 12 furlong trip, but he\'s a big slow moving colt who keeps coming. He has nowhere near the turn of foot BB has. Cyonara Casino Drive. Better luck next time

Casino Drive schooled in the paddock at Belmont today and was full of himself bucking and playing, very immature.Looked great physically. He acted up in the paddock pre Peter Pan so it may be smart to watch him in the paddock and post parade pre Belmont in case he washes out.

Nine out of ten jockeys don\'t make a difference on a horse.  One out of ten can make a race.  Prado is one of them.

Your betting choice in this race comes down to whether or not BB\'s hoof problem will compromise his race.  No problem?  No problem...he wins.

However, if BB can\'t deliver his top performance, Prado can make a difference. Prado\'s best move is a sustained middle move.  Somewhere after 6 furlongs in this race.

Over the long haul, you will get more favorble trips and fewer bad trips with the best jockeys. In addition, the selection of a specific jockey can sometimes be a tip off about intent. Unfortunately, I think the jockey factor is pretty much built into the odds most of the time. I don\'t pay much attention other than occasionally.

You didn\'t watch the head on replay close enough in the Monastic Springs race.  The horse in front of Edgar bore out so he tried going inside him.  When the horse bore in Edgar switched went for the hole outside of him.  When he did, the other horse bore out again.  The other horse was the one all over the place causing havoc. MS would have won easily if it wasn\'t for that other horse being all over the place.
